I think your post is fair in that reasonable people can disagree.
But what makes me sit up and wonder what the heck is going on is when a majority of this forum appear to want the President's head on a platter over one issue. Which of course is whatever the issue du jour is. In the words of Rosanrosannadanna, it's always something.
I part company philosophically with the President on several things. I disagree strongly on several issues. But none of those issues would ever, under any circumstances, make me throw up my hands and sit out an election or vote in a way that would give the opposition the upper hand. Not to mention support Impeaching him.
I could not do that to our fighting men and women, and I could not do that to the Iraqis who have the courage and the guts to show us all up when it comes to the importance of making democracy work. My word, they are learning to work with parties that a few short years ago where killing them! We should be ashamed of ourselves.
We abandoned those people once and got 9/11. I WILL NOT under any circumstances do that again. And I WILL NOT under any circumstances let our military face a Viet Nam like homecoming. Allow the dems back in power and it will happen again before you exit the voting booth.
If I hand the government over to the dems, no matter what my "principles" are, I will be doing exactly that.
Reasoned discourse and hearty disagreement, yes...please. The President/GOP head on a platter...find another team.

It's ALWAYS a GOP bashing site; it just comes and goes; mostly it is the John Birchers and the Patsies who hide out until something happens and they think they can take advantage of it to divide the GOP so they can "take back over," ya know? Conspiracy theories? You're embarassing yourself.
They all hate the GOP; they think we're a bunch of squishy moderates because we don't want illegals shot on sight, don't hate gays, etc.
Baseless hyperbole. And you know it. But don't let that stop you from trying to marginalize people's opinions that you disagree with.

It's ALWAYS a GOP bashing site; Thanks, I really didn't notice it too much when I first signed but the last couple months or so it has really picked up. I can't get used to the fact that some don't seem to care if the Dems get in, that upsets me no end.

"I will tell you this, if you want the Democrats to take over to punish the GOP then you are lower than pond scum"
I haven't voted for a Democrat, at even the local level, in close to twenty years, and have never voted for one at the national level. I have no desire to see them back in power. This problem is not exactly the voters' fault though, is it? The party and the president have made all of this possible. So, give credit where credit is due.

Yes, we do.
Look at the date on this article:
Hillary Calls For End To Electoral College
ALBANY, New York, Nov. 20, 2000
(AP) Senator-elect Hillary Rodham Clinton began a victory tour of upstate New York Friday by calling for elimination of the
Electoral College.
At an airport news conference, the first lady said she would support legislation seeking a constitutional amendment providing for the direct election of the president.
At the moment, Americans are waiting to see who wins Florida's 25 electoral votes and thus becomes the next president. Vice President Al Gore leads Republican George W. Bush in the popular vote nationwide.
"We are a very different country than we were 200 years ago," Clinton said.
"I believe strongly that in a democracy, we should respect the will of the people and to me, that means it's time to do away with the Electoral College and move to the popular election of our president."
The first lady also said that because of the closeness of this year's presidential election,
"I hope no one is ever in doubt again about whether their vote counts."
Clinton was accompanied by Green Island Democrat Rep. Michael R. McNulty, who has co-sponsored electoral college legislation introduced by Illinois Republican Rep. Ray LaHood. LaHood has introduced his bill in each of the last two congressional sessions, but aside from a 1997 hearing granted as a favor by House Judiciary Chairman Henry Hyde, R-Ill., it has not advanced.
McNulty thinks the measure will gain momentum if Gore wins the popular vote but loses the electoral tally.

I have witnessed your grasp of the truth right here on this thread. You have continuously accused one of the most honest posters on this board of lying. You are an unprincipled hypocrite.

It's frustrating. I keep hearing things like send a message, but I've been here since this started to become an issue and I still can't figure out exactly what they want.

We are currently in a war and we cannot allow the anti-military, anti-American, anti-sucess in the WOT democrats become a majority in Congress the one issue, blinders on, fair weather pubbies don't even think what would happen to our troops if the dims get in. The only thing that matters is THEIR marbles and if they don't get things exactly their way, they'll pick up their marbles, like snot nosed kids, and go home -
