I lift my feet off the floorboard of my Suburban when I drive.
My old commute 100 miles round trip. My new commute is 6 miles round trip.
I drive a Chevy HD 2500 Crew Cab. So, to do my part for my country, I put an extra 5 lbs of air in the tires...
You miss the point.. How much I use or not don't make a difference anymore..(to me).. because of that.. I use what what I need.. no more no less..
Since all energy costs matter, I address the problem across the board - home as well as auto. I have stopped driving my pick-up much and gone to driving my car much more, since its mpg is much greater than the truck.
At home, I make sure not to waste power.
I try to drive less overall.
Got it. I initially thought you were speaking to supply and demand from clientele. Thanks for the clarification.

I started walking to work. (300 yards) I am saving about $10 a month now! Also I plan to mow fewer acres and less often.
SS meaning social security? If so, not one bit, as I have a different retirement system.
ROFLMAO!!!
ThankYou.I wish you a Happy Birthday(as well as ALL FreePers)as well!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a 5.3L V8 Suburban which can run on E85 (which would cut my gasoline use by 75% or more).
I believe that screwing the international oil producers is a strategic necessity, and I'm sorry our government does not seem to agree.
I encourage democrats to ride bicycles to work so I have more room on the road.
I can't blame you there. As I said,my Yukon is my salvation during tough winters and hauling my equipment/airport,etc.,but it would just be foolish to drive it around where I live(grocery store/post office/bank)because it only gets about 12mpg/city.Not even that good becuse of the crummy gas/ethanol blend.Ethanol may well burn cleaner than other additives, but you need more gas because of reduced mileage.Another typical Government solution!!!!!!!!!!!!
Eating beans, cabbage and broccoli to capture and re-use the resulting "natural gas"
Canceled 3 long road trips this summer...with the price of gas at the levels they are at...it would have cost $680.00 more to do them just in gas.
Some restaurant is giving one of those away here in NC. Don't remember if it's a national chain or not but unless they're providing gas for the next ten years, I wouldn't want to win it.
Interestingly, I found a way to conserve gas.... I deliver mail, and I usually use 1/3 to 1/2 tank of gas per day. I discovered that if I really hustle, jackrabbit starts away from every mailbox, driving real fast down gravel roads and such, that I use FAR less gas than if I drive slowly. I finished yesterday with OVER 3/4 tank still left! Apparently, it uses more fuel in time than in distance, so the less time the engine is running, regardless the speed, the less fuel burned.
But I have another theory: Gas cost went up, right? It's probably better gas! So I don't have to burn as much to go the same distance! That old, cheap gas just didn't go as far. Just like our electric rates have increased. Well, there's more sparkles in it! My lights are brighter and my fan runs faster! My property taxes have tripled too, but they are far higher quality taxes than I was buying before! See? It all works.
