To say there has been "no action" on border security is a lie. It may not be as secure as we want it to be...yet...but hysterics isn't doing anyone any good.

"Or would he say, support the republicans including rinos if you want immigration reform ?"

I usually don't bother asking for links substantiating what members post here, but in this case.....

Conservatives are supposed to rally around RINO candidates. RINOs are supposed to sabotage conservative candidates.

If you read this website, the only sabatage going on is neocons trying to get rid of rinos. There is zero effort the other way round.

OK, so how have the 3rd parties done in the last 100 years ?

You need to read my posts again - I have no expectation of a 3rd party winning. I'm going to promote change by working to remove the R incumbents who have failed so badly. This will give conservatives a chance to run and possibly win in 08 and beyond.

It's a loaded question - the poll should be changed to something a bit more objective.

That said, both parties' base appear disenchanted with their representatives. I think that leaves the door open for some kind of populist candidate to do well - they just need to find the right combination of issues. Illegal immigration could certainly be one.

Mind you, I'm not endorsing a populist, but rather noting that it's a distinct possibility.

The past six years could have been an era of real change.

You don't know anything about the US constitution do you ? The US govt has been designed so that big changes are almost impossible and that is a good thing because it helped us survive Clinton and Carter.

Right. They passed H.R. 4437 for heaven's sake. That seemed pretty conservative.

Yes. The bloc of real conservatives in the House Republican caucus is substantial.

Folks need to face reality, though: While we have had a Republican majority since '94, we have not yet had a conservative majority.

Until we do, we're going to continue to get unsatisfactory results. That's just the way it is.

Our motto should be, "Send reinforcements!"

The battle belongs in the primaries .. not the general election

Yep.

However, the agitprop is not directed toward change using the primaries. Instead, it's directed toward third party.

All one has to do is look at the posts here on FreeRepublic to see which way the dumbed-down are being lead.

Exactly right.

NOW HERE THIS, FIRING REPUBLICANS MEANS ELECTING DEMOCRATS

What does the acronym RINO mean? I assume it means that the "person" in question is not really a Republican at all. So, if you do not vote for that person, can you be accused of not supporting Republicans?

"I can no longer support aparty that does not do what is was set out to do. I am a conservative, not a repubublican."

The best way is to nominate conservative candidates within the Republican Party during Republican primaries. As much as I agree with 3rd party conservative candidates on the issues, 3rd party candidates have little chance of winning. We have a two party system. What's lacking is a real effort to nominate conservative candidates within the Republican party.

"but you are a fool to believe any change can be accomplished through the primaries. "

Working within the system went out for me in 1996 when the 'system' developed a conservative platform which Dole refused to follow or even read.

"Beyond abortion, the platform recognizes the views of the most conservative elements of American politics on issues like immigration, criminal punishment, civil rights for homosexuals, education, welfare and the environment. Dole said over the weekend in an interview with the Copley News Service for the San Diego Union-Tribune that he had not read the platform and did not feel bound by it."

Two things;

First, the average stinkin' RINO still votes correctly about 60% of the time. The average Democrat usually votes correctly about 15% of the time.

Second, if you don't work to get rid of RINO's in Republican primaries then you can be accused of not supporting conservatives.

The nation survived for more than a few decades under the Democrats.

Read post 80. After WWII, the US GDP was larger than the rest of the world combined as Asia and Europe destroyed themselves. South America, also untouched by war, did very well too.

Today, the US simply can not afford the luxury of electing idiot democrats. Just look what has happened in south america. Unless we can get Japan to attack China and Germany to attack the rest of Europe, we can not have a few decades of democrats.

Count me OUT of that 13%, with the only caveat being that I won't vote for McCain if he manages to stumble into the GOP nomination.

"The other are the self proclaimed "true conservatives" who want to see the Democrats in power in order to "show" the GOP and to impeach "BuSHIT"."

Wrong. Conservatives don't want the 'rats in power; but they don't want John McCain in power either.

It's high time for the Republican Party to return to its conservative roots; McCain doesn't cut it, sorry.

The Republicans CONTINUE to move away from their base.... so why does it surprise and shock when the base no longer wants to support them.

When there comes a time that little or no difference can be found between the parties... it does not matter who gets elected.
