We need clear thinking, level heads and moral authority to preserve our Constitutional Republic. We have much work to do.
I am afraid that is the mindset of many in our government.
It would appear that way, except I'm only sleeping about 4 hours a day. I must be doing something wrong.
:)Easy Does It:)
"Your last post is precisely why, if we believe in our free constitutional republic, the values of our forefathers, the culture that has made the USA the greatest nation on Earth, that we cannot allow the status quo to continue in the next two elections. We must cause as much mischief to the political system as possible. We must begin a strong third party presence and kick out the GOP from the majority, that is, if we are to save our nation from the likes of the CFR, CATO, WTO, and world government NGOs in general."
Well, I'm encouraged to see that there are at least a few of us here on FR that recognize that we have a problem.
Sadly there are many times more here that accuse us of wearing tinfoil hats. But count me in the fight!
What mexico needs is a good old-fashioned revolution (again) to kick the 40 families out of power. After that they need help to establish a conservative republic that will encourage growth, foreign investment (including ownership of land), etc.
The best way we can help them get started on the revolution is for us to pass H.R. 4437 and start enforcing all our immigration laws. If we give them amnesty then the mexican government is secure. But if we send all the illegals back, the millions of disgruntled people freshly back from the U.S.A that have seen how a great country is run will not be satified with business as usual in mexico.
Evil is always done in secret.
Has anyone actually read Nafta? I was told by someone that Nafta contract gives up or national sovereignty? Is that true? Is that why out elected officials turn a blind eye to the entry of millions of illegals annually?
Our Constitution, under laws written by the legislatures of the various States and by Amendments to the Constitution (all passed in concordance with provisions in the Constitution) provides for a representative democracy.
The people of the United States of America have their say in who represents them every 2 years in the House of Representatives, every 4 years in the Executive branch, and every 6 years in the Senate.
You are correct, it was hedgetrimmer who stated, "If you remove illegal immigration and foreign direct investment from the calculations used to determine our GDP, you'll find that the US domestic economy is stagnant or shrinking."
Do you agree with this? Are you aware of a country whose economy is in better shape than ours?
It was because you took up the argument that our country's economy is heading into deep trouble that I assumed, perhaps falsely, that you agreed with hedgetrimmer.
Never have supported McCain.
I enjoyed the President's remarks in during the White House Correspondents Dinner in which he referred to the various parties coming together for a night of harmony at the dinner, "Republicans and Democrats and John McCain."
I believe if we had supported the Shah of Iran with military help, we would not be facing the threat of nukes in Iran now.
I believe if we had been able to do more to encourage small businesses in Latin America over the last few decades that we would not be facing takeovers of oil industries by communists in Venezuela and Bolivia now.
I believe in playing geopolitical chess in order to defend this country. You don't. We disagree on reality.
Representative democracy and Constitutional republics are dependent on developing an entrepreneurial class that grows to the point where it begins to demand a say in the government that is hamstringing it.
Constitutions and government reforms don't come first.
The growth of a middle class of businessmen and women comes first. There has to be a countervailing power to tyranny before tyranny can be challenged.
By engaging the people of Latin America in small businesses you help them take the steps to learning that their governments need reforming, and more importantly, HOW they need to be reformed.
A communist can come in a promise them pie in the sky reforms and they can be swept along with that chimera, but experience trying to set up a small business will give them a much more grounded idea of what is wrong with their country.
