It's a very unfortunate situation, and I hope someone can help him. It must be very dangerous to go under anesthesia in his condition, although the article said his heart and lungs were astoundingly healthy, all things considered.

....this fellow is pathetic, and does deserve our prayers.... something is/was terribly wrong with him, and we can only imagine what kind of hell he must be living in. I hate to be indelicate, but how does this guy bathe and go to the bathroom? He can't get in a tub or shower so he must go to a carwash. He would drape over a commode and how would he wipe? Oh well, enough of that.

Outside of perhaps Prader-Willi Syndrome, there really aren't any medical causes of morbid obesity. An issue with the thyroid or various other hormonal issues may cause an individual to be overweight, but not to the extent of morbid obesity. He ate his way to his current weight.

I agree with you: "He deserves our prayersnot ridicule."
But whether he is physically or mentally challenged he will get ridiculed here as long as he is fat. Even the author of the article could not resist telling us he "... weighs the same as five baby elephants,"

Someone call Ted Kennedy! We found his twin brother who was separated at birth!

There is a difference between seeing the outrageousness or even humor of a person's situation and ridiculing him. I think it is unlikely that anyone offering a humorous comment here would be cruel to him or his family. Rather I suspect that if put in the situation those same individuals would more likely offer support and assistance. Let's face it, looking at the guy you just can't help but imagine the strange and funny possibilities that the image conjures up.

how does he find his wienie to pee?

"He ate his way to his current weight"
I worked with a person who suffered an eating disorder. This worker ate non stop while on the clock and we had to cover for it. This worker was often allowed to go and buy huge amounts of fast food and eat it only 20 minutes after clocking in. I have never seen anyone eat so much so fast. We all felt sorry for this person.

This is not from eating. I think he must have some kind of a disease or something malfunctioning.Nope....
I've taken care of at least 10-15 people that are/were extremely morbidly obese.
Their primary problem was eating too much.

Glad I was able to give you a chuckle to start your day. BTW...I looked at your profile and saw that you were in the Army Security Agency --so was I! (1976-1976). I was an 05G2P assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division at Ft. Bragg.
