you got it, that is exactly the problem - we can't pin this on the Dems when our own caucus isn't solid on it.

The plan would prohibit drilling within 100 miles of Florida’s coast, to minimize the potential damage of an oil spill getting on the wrong side of Katherine Harris and Mel Martinez.

George Patton accurately described Libroids like Nelson and Martinez as follows: "Politicians are the lowest form of human life. Liberal Democrats are the lowest form of politician."

Actually its 56 miles square (i.e. 56x56) not 56 square miles but its still not much ocean -its about the size of the Atlanta metro area.

Mel "Teats on a boar-hog" Martinez has been a major disappointment.

I called his office the other day to remind them that his margin of victory in 2004 was less than 1%.

Nelson said he believed that he and Sen. Mel Martinez (R-Fla.), who has opposed other efforts to open Lease 181 to drilling, could block the bill.

Of course they could; nothing like helping the nation to commit suicide on energy policy.

I forgot - Martinez is not a Liberal Democrat. He is a liberal pubbie - a RINO.

I guess I should have mentioned the other trial lawyer reprobate Mel "the RINO" Martinez, but I was too concentrated on taking down another 'rat...sorry...my bad.

the sheeple don't know how far 100 miles is. they think these drilling rigs will be within swimming distance from the florida beaches, that they will be directly offshore.

There's going to be Cuban drilling only about 50 miles off. It would be kind of ironic if Cuba ended up tapped the resources we refuse to.

The president advocates increased energy exploration in the United States, but he said in a pre-inauguration interview with The Associated Press that he would support governors who want drilling banned off their coastlines.

Treason...brought to you by America's two major political parties...

Seems to be due to a thing called "angle drilling" if we don't go get this stuff the Chinese will, from Cuba. I realize the clintonions (not capped ,due to lack of respect) gave China everything they need to kill us, but the economics of this sucks. Seems to be the former democrat John F Kennedy, darn near went to war over Russia doing the same thing.

We need to "punish" the evil oil companies by making them drill more and build refineries. Better yet, let's not even allow their products to be taxed at all! That will show them!
