Someone else who has been watching closely. ; ).

You can learn a lot about strategery if you turn the sound on the tv off and just start looking for patterns.

The President and his team are astonishingly predictable. Especially in areas relating to raw politics. That is not to mention things relating to policy as well, because I can barely count the times when people said something was not going to happen, there was a huge fuss...and then when everything quieted down people were stunned to discover it had been done!

Yep ....Snow was a good move.

That said W is lame duck. People are tired of this administration....even on FR. I don't think we knew that "compassionate conservatism" meant spending money like you hate the stuff.

The damage to the budget is tremendous....

and the open borders policy is...

Don't know if this has been posted on FR before, but it's a chart of Bush approval vs gas prices. The gas price is shown as a reciprocal number.

"Clinton's poll numbers were in the 60's when he was impeached."

Yes, Clinton was impeached by the House, but Clinton's 60% approval rating, made up and reported by Clinton's supporters in the MSM, so frightened Senate Republicans that they ran and hid rather than support the impeachment.

Let's face it, Senate Republicans have been, and still are, a worthless lot.

Go ahead, go down the list of Senate Republicans and tell me how many keepers you can find. It makes one wonder who is electing these people.

The moral of the story is that the MSM still has teeth, and we announce its "death" at our risk.

The MSM has been wildly successful in turning every single bad thing that happens--up to and including the weather-- into a referendum on the Bush presidency that Bush can't possibly win.

Misery and malaise are the yearning desires of the American people, and secularism, sedition, socialism, and surrender comprise the agenda of the American people.

I don't agree with that. The American people are screaming for change.

"Any non immigration related ideas to turn things around?"

Throw the illegals out and put the military at the border and his poll ratings would be over 50% tomorrow.

In addition, if he further signed executive orders to drill the crap out of everything, develop ethanol production, and force higher millage standards, it would be at 60% approval.

Completing and getting out of Iraq and Afghanistan, and balancing the budget - maybe between 70 and 80% approval.

This is not a hard thing to do unless you move to inside the beltway and make bad decisions like amnesty (I mean guest worker).

Bush has alienated every segment of the electorate. By failing to be a true conservative, he's alienated his base by failing to secure our borders, by establishing the biggest trillion dollar entitlement since LBJ, and by being a pork-loving reckless spender. When he uses the word "veto" everyone has a huge bi-partisan laugh. Over the years he's waffled on many issues important to conservatives, affirmative action to cite just one. His policy of reducing taxes while at the same time exponentially increasing (non-defense) spending and doing nothing about waste, fraud, corruption and a bigger more intrusive government than ever before has alienated independents and libertarians. It's not just that the administration has been poor in getting its message out --it's that two-thirds of the electorate don't like what the message is.

Immigration. Gas Prices. Deficit spending. Iraq war. Enough to go around and p*ss off everybody.

That doesn't necessarily translate to Democratic victories in the fall. Are YOU going to vote Democratic because you're mad about deficit spending?

The fact is that Bush has a lot of positive things to talk about and he should be pounding away at them everyday. The economy is roaring, there has been very little terrorism since 9/11 (and none in the USA) and despite what the naysayers say, things are under control in Iraq and getting better.

This is correct - Without a doubt this WH is awful when it comes to touting good news - Be it on the economy or the WOT -

With that said, this WH also really doesn't care about polls (and that I respect to a degree...without question).

This WH has never lost an election cycle yet (2000, 2002 and 2004) - The GOP had gains across the board -

I believe the same holds true this Nov - We are going to pick up a couple seats in the House and maybe 1 in the Senate -

Our base is full of good people. We can disagree but I believe on the whole we will circle the wagons and be there come Nov - The "independents" simply aren't paying attention whatsoever right now....and with all the 24/7 MSM attacks on GWB to a degree they are effecting these "indy's" because they really aren't paying serious attention to any issues and so all they do get is "negative, negative, negative" BS. - Which tweaks them a bit to be negative on GWB -

That will begin to change as the summer comes to a close -

The RNC is the group with is absolutely pathetic! - They should be running ads touting the economy, standing firm on Iraq and touting success after success in the WOT - Yet they do nothing! - They should be drilling the DEM's on oil prices....this issue is made to order to turn it around on the DEM's....yet they are foolishly attacking the private sector.

Any non immigration related ideas to turn things around?

Turn Iranian nuclear facilities into glass; no nation building, no occupation, no financial aid, no UN involvement, just completely erased the sites off the map within minutes. The world has forgotten what nuclear weapons really are; and Iran can serve as both a caution and demonstration.

Why would you say that Rove is getting indicted? The special prosecutor has already told him he's not a target.

Your first sentence sums up the Carter administration. Total failure on every front - foreign affairs and domestic policy.

I don't doubt at all that it's low: my issue is that it cannot possibly "decline" in every poll all the time. It doesn't work that way.

Different pollsters. You can't compare across different polls.
