Did they take your name? They asked for mine so they can relay the message.

Well, I feel better now! Had to keep calling cause his phone was busy, but finally got through. I asked if it were really true that Sen Specter is threatening to block NSA funds. The man was nice and said that the Senator was unhappy with the answers he was getting from the President about how the money is being spent and wasn't pleased that he wasn't getting answers.
I said, "I have an idea. Why doesn't the senator call the President and ask for a private meeting and maybe he'd get some answers in that forum, rather than obnoxious political grandstanding that only hurts the war effort? Holding public hearings on such sensitive information is outrageous. Maybe if he would quit stabbing the President in the back, he would be included more. As it is now, Washington leaks like a collander and the Senator's loyalty to President Bush continues to be inconsistant, at best. "
"You tell the senator that as an American, I am outraged that he is trying to interfere with the war on terror and that he better be ready for the blame he will get when we are attacked again."
He was polite and thanked me. And I was surprised he didn't ask where I was from! I hope lots of other FReepers will call. It felt good to vent!

And why doesn't Frisk get rid of this idiot as Chairman? Of course, I'm not a rules expert. I suppose he has "seniority" so he gets to stay forever?

So this is how Arlen Spectre says thank you to the President and Rick Santorum for saving his left wing ass in the last election? Nice guy. Exactly ......... I'm from PA and I have disliked that sleazy maneuvering creep forever.

He must have slept through the hearings. Gonzales went into way more detail than I needed to hear.

President Bush backed Specter because Specter was thought to be the most electable "Republican" candidate.Republican != Conservative.

Depending on how it's worded, perhaps the Administration could have it declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court.

Bush and Santorum supported Specter. Santorum is in serious trouble with his re-election bid and Bush is losing control of his base. Specter is not helping either one

I remember when he was the DA in Philadelphia and Frank Rizzo was mayor...he was a publicity hound and sleezoid back then too.
