Grief! Back there when we were working in the desert, a friend of mine sat on a scorpion that nailed him good. I think had we known the price of scorpion venom, he probably could have gotten one of us to suck the venom out. LOL!

The word "compensation" usually refers to all costs associated with employment. The word "salary" typically only refers to the money part of compensation.

Well, our parents did since about 1964 for 40 years of dem's. It was not until our generation in 1994 with Newt that we started to make a change.

I don't know of any generation in history that has been given this gift of huge government and tax burdens to its children.

I think it was Joe Scarborough last night noting that the only way a congress member can lose their pension is through treason. Even Duke Cunningham will get $25k a year for live in pension pay outs. Bribery, selling your office away to the highest bidder, and taking a felony plea do to it, is not enough for you to lose your pension.

Some kinda country we live in.

Oh, and you are fully vested after 20 years, and at the age of 50. So, if you run for congress the day you turn 30, win 10 terms, you can retire at 50, fully vested.

Tom Foley gets $123,000 a year, PLUS!!!! COLA every year on top of that.

.
Brace yourselves, everyone, for the inevitable BIG OIL BUST which will result from this boom. It's just a matter of time.

Everything is topsy-turvy! Oil, immigration, war, terrorism, suicide bombers, McCarthy-gate, November elections, Iran, Duke-gate, Osama, Libby-gate....
.

I don't see anything to support a claim that compensation increased by 250% from 2005 to 2006.

Prior to Jan 2005, $157,000. Currently, $162,100. Remedial math needed, Glenn Beck.

Thank you. I didn't think 250% in one year made sense. Not that they wouldn't try to get away with it if they could. ;-)

And on top of the great pay & all their perqs, they demand our . . . . respect (cough)
Not gonna address mine or any as `The Honorable' So-and-so, wouldn't be prudent, not gonna happen in this life-time.

Just another example why all the idiots opposed term limits--they're getting a good screwing now.

Any raise they vote themselves is criminal

All their compensation and pension should be decided by their own states and paid for by them...

The people should decide what they should be paid and not Congress

The very idea that they simply vote to give themselves raises and pensions...is absurd

Employees who vote themselves higher wages?...and higher pensions?

A program built on purpose for corruption..

imo

Truthfully, I don't find their compensation that outrageous. They do have specialized skill sets.

I just like complaining. And Congress is a good target. Maybe even the best.

While the average fund was down just 0.37% v. the S&P 500's 9.1% drop, investors in the average fund actually lost around 3% when you add in the fees and capital gains taxes they must pay.

At leasrt with gas there is a service provided, but with our elected officals they provide nothing but hot air which is of no service to anyone.
