Agreed. Hooah! This is even becoming a non-partisan issue. At least make the illegals pay a fine and fine the employers who have illegally hired them. If they had to fork over any $$$, they'd probably go back hiding under a rock where they came from.
"Someday Americans will understand they tolerated the system, that encouraged illegal border crossing, and it wasn't JUST the fault of the people in Mexico."
You are absolutely correct. People HAVE been asleep, as it were. But now some of us are awake and we do not want the abuse of our borders to continue.
Its not "bad words"...its words that oppose the past and continuing abuse of our laws and our system. Its words that oppose local jurisdictions that have decided to not carry out our laws by offering ILLEGALS free benefits from their taxpayers. Its words that say "enough is enough".
Someday Mexico will take charge of their northern border like they have their southern border. Perhaps we should pattern our border regulations like Mexico's. Perhaps the Mexican government will stop encouraging its citizens to leave.
Its not hatred of Mexican workers or of the Mexican people. It is disgust with the lack of enforcement of our laws.
If we truly need "cheap" labor [and I am not convinced that is true], then we should allow that labor to enter legally.
How about the Mexican and American governments jointly constructing processing centers at the border on the Mexican side to process workers legally? If they have proof of employment here, they can be issued a conditional visa. If they turn out to be criminal, for example, they can expect to be deported. If not, they can work. The processing won't have to take years. It won't catch all people but it will make the honest ones welcome.
This can be worked out. But not by rewarding people who broke the laws of this country to be here.
