Interesting observation, thanks. I taught ESL at our church for a while. The women were barely literate in their own languages. I think one said school had gone through 3rd grade or 5th or something. (Where was she from? Ask me no details...).

"Hispanic parents are the kind of parents that leave it to others," explains an unwed Salvadoran welfare mother in Santa Ana. "We don't get that involved."

Great ... just great.

((( sigh )))

To be sure, most Hispanics are hardworking, law-abiding residents;

Really? If you have crossed the border illegally you are not law-abiding.

Used a false social security number? Didn't pay income taxes? Committed welfare fraud?

Immigration optimists, ever ready to trumpet the benefits of today's immigration wave, have refused to acknowledge its costs.

I see a more sinister motive - to scare suburban whites into supporting gun control and increased police power.

It's a two-for-one for the elites: cheap labor and expanded government.

She lives in the D.C. area now, but emigrated legally from San Salvador when she was 16. She's now 35.

I along with other friends encouraged her to lift herself out of poverty by her bootstraps and go to community college, but she just dug her heels in.
