Was Feinstein's position that its not an obligation to defend Taiwan if, by Taiwan's own actions, hostilities commence? If so I agree with her position. What? Are we to serve at the beck and call of Taiwan's leadership who'll be confident that we'll bail them out of any troubles THEY initiate? This country shouldn't be held hostage to the whims and caprices of any nation be it supposed friend or foe.

Certainly thanks for the offer but the costs of continuously maintaining several thousand personnel would be too much for individual contributors to support.
There would have to be some thought involved in developing the idea further first anyway. (We are not the Left you know so going off half cocked just to feel good is not the approved method)
