PING
LOL!
Takes a while to get used to the peanut butter and crackers.
Yes, the Ham Slice was always my favorite one, used to try and trade to get it.
One of the funniest things I ever saw -- during Basic Training, a couple of guys made a bet, and the rest of us got to watch to be judges for them. The bet was that one guy couldn't eat the entire MRE cracker and then whistle within 2 minutes.
So we started the timer, he started scarfing the cracker down and even though it seemed like he ate it quickly enough to give himself plenty of time, he just couldn't whistle. It was funny as heck, he was forming his lips in the right shape and blowing, but his mouth was bone-dry and little bits of cracker crumbs were the only thing coming out -- no sound.
Or Salems for Marlboros! :-)
I have found that MRE's are best for storing in a vehicle or boat for an emergency. I use them as my meals when hunting or fishing, so I do go through a couple cases a year. I get whatever Sportsman's Guide is selling.
When trail riding with friends it's usually Tillamook cheese, venison or elk sausages, crackers & red wine.
Your long term home emergency food is should be just the stuff you like to eat that has a good shelf life. Rotate your stock.
