Oh please let this be true.

You know Tony. He won't do anything without family consultation and prayer.
He's the perfect man for the position.

The only reason for him to do it would be to help out GWB and the GOP. That's a pretty good reason in itself.

Tony,
It is my opinion that your calm, yet piercing, articulate manner would tear through the White House press corp in a manner reminiscent of Jenjis Khan.
Or has that line been used before?
I imagine that you are praying over this decision. We're praying with you.

I think you are very happy in what you are doing now, and if I were you, I would say no. I think this Job is begging for someone like you with your Credentials, experience, common sense and inside info, contacts. Take it, your Country needs you, you can do this with one lip tied behind your back. Scott is not able to explain things like you can and you can really put things in a proper perspective. TAKE IT!!!!!!! Some things in life are bigger than we would have ever imagined, and we know you will not let us down no matter what you choose. Let's roll!!!

Greetings, Tony - you're the best! The country and the president need you badly in that role, but I don't know how difficult the decision may or may not be in terms of other considerations that only you can weigh. All I can say is, you are truly the right man at the right time to play a key role in turning this WH around and getting the country going in a better direction. I'm not saying anyone can solve all the problems of the media in politics, but you would certainly have the historic opportunity to bring a lot more intelligence and insight into the WH briefing room. Scott McClellan is a good guy, but he just doesn't think on his feet and the WH press corps hands him his head every day.
Good luck and God Bless You. Whatever you decide, you know you have a great many admirers and e-friends here!

It may only be for a the remainder of GWB's second term, but would Tony have outgrown talk radio after such an experience?

I agree with you, he is very well-spoken and definitely has a silver tongue. It was my attempt to be funny. Dan you imagine the "drive-by" media having to face Rush everyday?

On his radio show, Tony once said "BE Reagan!"

Is Scott McClellan related to George McClellan, the Civil War general?
To: Don'tMessWithTexas
Ditto! Things just didn't seem to be the same after Ari left. Scott's a nice enough guy but he just doesn't come across as an effective spokesman for the President of the United States.
He always reminds me of George on Seinfeld. It's hard to take the guy seriously.

" Press Sec'y doesn't have to travel does he?"
Press Sec'y travels with the President .
Ari was single , as is Scott - the time spent away from his family has to be a big drawback for Tony.
I hope that Tony can find a way to make this work -the situation in the press room is dire.
