That's a pretty good synopsis.
It's one of the uglier political stories ever.
The RINOs brought in Keyes to make social conservatives look like fools
EV replies:
That's a pretty good synopsis.
That's as close as EV has ever come to recognizing reality. Now if he could just put his finger on *why* Keyes makes social conservatives look like fools, we'd have something.
He was only made to look foolish because he was foolish enough to believe that the RINOs running the GOP in IL would acually carry through on their promises.
Instead, they spent far more time attacking him than in attacking Barack Obama.
In fact, they didn't attack Obama at all.
What about the social conservatives here in Illinois that were foolish enough to believe that Keyes would carry through on his promises to stay in the state after the election.
What about people like me that were foolish enough to donate time and money to the campaign, only to see the Keyes organization (you included) pack up and leave town as soon as the last check cleared?
The next time you feel like opening your mouth about Illinois politics, see if you can answer those questions. If not, find another state in which to grift.
Those of us actually in Illinois, actually doing the work that advances social conservatism thank you in advance.
Your self-righteousness is duly noted.
But I'm afraid your judgment on me, and also on Dr. Keyes, is based in ignorance of actual circumstances.
And, if you are what you say you are, it is hard to understand why you would rail so viciously at the simple factual assertion that "IL is a cesspool" politically. It's self-evidently true.
Dang, forgot a clause...
Your self-righteousness, which even extends to typos, is duly noted.
Your reference to some sort of vague, unspecified "actual circumstances" that justified the Keyes organization breaking an explicit pledge to stay in Illinois is as self-serving as it is unconvincing.
If you have an actual reason that Keyes broke his direct promise, let's hear it. Otherwise, just be a man for once and admit that the Keyes and his entire organization misrepresented his intentions.(And I'm being very generous here by not calling it lying. You're welcome.)
The actual circumstances were that Dr. Keyes did what he could to help in IL. He was spit upon and reviled for it. Sheesh, his wife was even spit on and reviled...in the polling place, even.
He brought his national resources, developed over many years at great personal effort, to bear to help you.
And your posts, again, are vivid examples of how he was treated for his efforts on your behalf.
Somehow, I suspect that your motives in attacking him really have little to do with whether he was willing to continue where he was obviously not wanted.
In the interest of fairness, perhaps you could tell us whether you yourself were in the employ of Dr. Keyes' campaign?
If you are who I think you are, your accusations are hilariously hypocritical.
Dang, if you are who I think you are, you're the one who was primarily responsible for the campaign there being the disaster it was...
Ahh, I see. Keyes had to leave (with you in tow) because he was "reviled" in Illinois. Basically, you're saying that Keyes left Illinois because there were people there that disagreed with him.
Let me make sure I understand... Keyes would have stayed if the people in Illinois would have welcomed him with open arms. Keyes would have stayed in Illinois if people continued to stroke his ego, and continued tell him how important he was?
And most importantly I'm sure, Keyes would have been willing to stay if people had continued to write him checks.
This really shows what the Keyes organization was/is all about. He is perfectly willing to live in an echo chamber and have acolytes like you tell him how wonderful you all are, but when it comes time for real political work that would bring about real political change, he wants no part of it.
I have never heard you be so honest, even if it is unintentional honesty.
Unlike you and Keyes, I am willing to work in Illinois to advance conservative causes without being paid for it.
But of course, its just a coincidence that you & Keyes left town as soon as the money dried up, isn't it?
(and as an aside, I fully expect your posts to now turn to the clever throw-aways that usually end your discussions when you run out of ways to avoid the facts)
Ah well, obviously, you're so capable that you're able to save Illinois from the corrupt Republicans and Democrats (liberals all) with no money and a bunch of people who refuse to work together.
I bow to your obvious superior ability.
How's the project coming?
So, can you explain how you do major party politics with no money?
Living off the trust fund?
Really, if it isn't something simple like that, I'd like to know. I'm as efficient as I can be with the little bit I'm occasionally paid, but you seem to have reversed the polarity of American politics and found a way to do it for free...
You really are an amazing scientist, Dr. Nobel.
They should name a prize after you.
That's the spirit! Completely ignore the previous point!
Tell me again--when did Keys make his promise to stay in Illinois after the election? And when did he skip town? And what changed between those two dates that made it ok for that promise to be broken? I look forward to your answers.
Perhaps you've heard of people with productive...full time...JOBS (gasp!). I'm one of those. I don't just drift from one issue of the day to another, collecting checks as I go, only to walk away as soon as the money dries up. I guess you could say that is a major difference between myself and the Keyes squad.
Keys made no impact on IL. The Land of Daley - er Lincoln -has forgotten about Keyes. No use griping about him. We need to focus on the Congressional races here. We have to defend Henry Hyde's seat and reclaim Phil Crane's seat to prevent Nancy Pelosi, San Freakisco, from being US House Speaker.
I like your positive vision for what needs to be done right now.
Your ignorance is stunning.
The hacks who profited from the Keyes campaign in IL financially are STILL THERE fleecing you.
I didn't even cover my expenses.
Sure wasn't Keyes either, notwithstanding your egregious lie back up the thread. He paid a higher price than anyone.
You're not only ignorant, you're a hypocrite. You lie about good people, then claim to be some kind of moral conservative.
Excuse me if I don't believe it.
Illinois politics, including Illinois Republican politics, makes a cesspool smell good by comparison.
So you're all about having a positive vision for what needs to be done in Illinois, huh?
