"Today, thank God, the Iranian nation is a powerful one and we are going to have a dialogue with the world from a position of power...a few weaklings cannot stand against the Iranian people," I am reminded of Hitler's famous quote "Give me ten years and you won't recognize Germany anymore," which was ironically posted as a message by the allies on piles of rubble in defeated Germany.

Mahmoud better check with the NY Times, I believe they have copy writes on all those anti-American phrases.

They are emboldened by our press and the democrats. Bush's inability to sell his ideas doesn't help either; but most of all, our demonrats have emboldened our enemies.

but what happens if this nut in Iran decides to start the game without letting us in the kickoff time. Its like a fight in hockey....the moment the other guy drops his gloves....its showtime. And I wasn't meaning to cut you short on your thought above. It is a valid concern. Without question. But his options in this regard are limited (in what he can actually do...in terms of offensively "dropping the gloves".
But if he choose that route...you are exactly right...it's show time at that point.
I still believe he is a nut-job who surprisingly see's the irony currently. And that is "time" is actually on our side currently....not theirs.

I am tempted to post nude photos of a Persian American princess, but I want to offend Mahmoud, not the good American families on this site. LOL! I'm sure you can just e-mail them to him. His e-mail address is just bound to be somewhere on his website or something... (cough, cough) http://www.khamenei.ir/ (paste, cough)

Hmm, guess I should've looked at the link first. That doesn't look like Ahmadinejad at all. Ah well, I'm sure creative use of google will lead to the right place, eventually... ;)

If you have ever wondered what a country run by lunatics would look like , you need look no farther than Iran
maybe the have a nuke inside the US and are baiting us to throw the first pitch so they can be validated with a "repsonse". The mexican border is and has been wide open for some time.
To: Dog
I know Dev...I hear you...but what happens if this nut in Iran decides to start the game without letting us in the kickoff time. Well thanks to Bush, even though I didn't agree with going into Iraq before Iran, has our troops right next door and we will blitzkrieg them.
To: NormsRevenge
For good or ill, the only thing likely to be decaying in the near future will be the radioactive fallout over Iran after some nukes are capped off by the U.S. to stop that nation's apocalyptic march toward nuclear war with the world.

The press reacts negative to everything the president tries to say or do, just imagine if the opposite react were taking place. Americans would still be waving flags as if 9/11 happened yesterday.
They would make the presidents words have meaning. His message is damaged almost immediately by the press even before our enemies have time to digest and respond to what has been said.
The press is definitely aiding and abetting our enemies in a fashion that would have led to serious charges during WWII in our struggle against Japan and Nazi Germany.

Re AFP's headline: I don't think "confident" is the right word ... I was thinking "crazy"
To: NormsRevenge
Everyone thinks Iran is acting crazy but they are not. I think what they are doing is pretty shrewd, albiet calculated. With Iraq in turmoil and Saddam hanging on by a thread, Iran is set to be the reagional super power. Saudia Arabia has more money and Jordan is more stable, but with a nuclear bomb Iran will have the most military leverage.
But is that good enough to become the regional superpower. Not quite. You have to slap the giant and get away with it. That means hitting either the US or Isreal by proxy. The Iranian regime doesn't have to win the fight, just survive it and they will be huge winners in the middle east from a military and resolve standpoint.
Iran is probably betting that America does not have the gut check required to fight to a win. If I had to place money on that bet, I might side with the mullahs. If you look at the poll numbers on and media coverage of Iraq -a place with problems that we are clearly winning and making progress- day by day the US is acting more and more weakened.
Even conservatives are finding they don't have the stomach for a 3 year battle with a loss of 2000+ lives (which is very low by any historical standards). Sure we can do bombing runs, but I think Iran comes out the winner on that one. The regime survives with their nuclear plan delayed, but they slapped the giant and pretty much got away with it. Their day will come again.

HEY MAHMOUD AMADJIHAD!!!! This 'decaying power' went 250 miles behind enemy lines and decapitated a government in two weeks. That had never been done in military history bonehead. I think we should see if we could set a record when we go to Tehran.
IF we are decaying then Iran has decayed.
somebody deliver this man some mushroom pizzas. See if he gets the hint.

I have always believe that their hate for Israel and the USA is the glue they use to keep their rotten government together.
