And because of a bunch of kids who thought it would be a good idea to hire a stripper.

And hiring a stripper is cause for 48 people to have their lives ruined, right?

She also apparently had a death grip on the brake handle which a passed out drunk would not do either. My theory, posted elsewhere, is that she had just realized she was about to be nailed by the cops for public drunkenness and who knows what else. Rather than "drunk and unresponsive", I'm thinking "paralyzed with fear and in denial". She has two kids and a long history of problems with the bottle and the law. My own speculation is that social services is after her and one more arrest would have been a death knell for her custodial rights so she cried rape. But that's just my theory.

That's a good theory. sounds reasonable.

Boy, did you make a jump. I didn't say that, and I don't believe it.

But the fact is, if they hadn't hired a stripper, they wouldn't be in this mess.

Right?

Some male students go to the beach during spring break to drink and ogle the nearly-nude females. These boys hired their own stripper in Durham.

From the N&O article. According to N&O there were warrants

DURHAM -- Duke University president Richard Brodhead said Friday morning that Durham police had attempted to serve search warrants at the on-campus dorm rooms of lacrosse players Thursday night.

Conflicts with Herald Sun account

President Richard Brodhead said he was just learning about the Thursday night search attempts and didn't have many details, including whether investigators had search warrants and if they actually entered any rooms.

I vote N&O assumed there were warrants and didn't really bother to check.

From the sounds of this girl, if she hadn't gone to the Duke house, she would have had another "assignment" and those people would be in trouble.

Well, if she had gone to an NCCU lacrosse team party and the same thing happened, nobody would have blinked an eye.

(Before someone jumps me, I realize there is no lacrosse at NCCU.)

I didn't know there were laws against hiring strippers in North Carolina.

I think it depends on how much clothing comes off. There are strip clubs which makes me wonder why these guys just didn't go to one.

Wife safe harbour provision: Not that I would know anything about it.

From the updated story (12:36 p.m. ET):

A defense attorney, Kerry Sutton, told WRAL that police were trying to question some players Thursday, but that there was no warrant for a search of players' rooms.

This is a shining example of the lefts attempt to disregard the law and due process and instead pander to a misguided and ignorant constituency. This whole episode has been a disgrace to Duke, North Carolina and the Nation not to mention the ravenous media like Nancy Grace and all the other talking faces that believe that the promotion of guilt should dominate the presumption of innocence.

Somewhere like Ruth's Chris which is where the lax players now wish they'd gone that night.

And I bet they would have gotten a lot better "strip" for their $800.

OK - I'll stop now.

I think this is an example of a democrat playing class warfare for the amusement (and votes) of the ingnorant electorate.

The big news for me is in the last of the above article: Kim has spoken w/the defense and verified the team members' story.

Carolina, which article says that? The thread article or another one posted on the thread?
