I think most Americans saw through this ruse.

To give you an idea of what a losing position pro-illegal-immigration is, even a good number of folks at DU are saying things to the effect of "if they're here illegally, send them home". (See PJ-Comix's recent DUFU on Ted Kennedy's illegals rally for examples).

We who love this Republic will be very disappointed in the final bill. We will be let down.

Doubtless, you are correct but, as the polls and counter-protests have shown, this is a polarizing issue, and we will not stop with passage of a bill that ignores our demands. Political careers are going on the line over this, and the likes of McCain and Kennedy may (I emphasize MAY) not be willing to fall on their swords over this. After all, McCain still thinks he's a viable presidential candidate.

Americans owe a great debt to the Japanese. We are having to re-learn how to compete in the marketplace thanks, in large part, to the Japanese beating us with the lessons they learned from us and then took to a higher level. The lesson the Demonrats need to learn but can't come to grips with is the difference between legal immigration and ILLEGAL immigration. Perhaps Americans can also re-learn from the Japanese how to uphold immigration laws before it's too late.

"The Sleeping Giant has been wakened and is in no mood to take much more in the way of the feral gummint's lies, corruption and obfuscation -- or of the illegal aliens' assinine arrogance."

The illegal aliens actually fit in quite well with the "robbers by ballot box" that paved the way for them.

Hopefully we can adjust from a flood of illegal, minimally productive, aliens to a flood of legal, talented, and very productive aliens who see the vision that is America, and buy into it in a big way. Americans need the latter very much, though it is hard (impossible, I think) to argue that we deserve them. Perhaps, by the grace of God, we will get them anyway. There are precedents.

See post #55.

YOUR WORDS!

"""""Yesterday, President Bush made a speech regarding how Harry Reid stopped the vote and this lead to the "thwarting of the will of the American people". BUSH
IS EITHER LYING OR DOESN'T KNOW THE WILL OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE."""""

If the amendments would STRENGTHEN the bill against amnesty, and the President was for allowing these amendments and reid was blocking them (which is EXACTLY what is happening according to Bill Sammon and Michael Barrone on Brit's show last night) then by your own words you are WRONG!

The American people want strong anti-amnesty border security, and then and only then will they consider a limited guest worker program not leading to citizenship. These amendments would have shaped this bill into doing just that. dims blocked those amendments! Bush was neither WRONG, or LYING!

I just read your own words and thoughts, and added NOTHING to their meaning. Ignorance is rampant on FR, and your's is a prime example of an uninformed drive-by rant!

Bush is the 1d10t that got this whole thing started by offering these people a small ray of hope when he was talking about a "Guest Worker Program" a couple of years ago.

See post #40 to find out when it really took off.

Heheh.......beautiful.

The proof that this is a consensus issue is everywhere. For instance, ----other than Teddy and McCainiac-----where are the rest of the Hyphenate-Fellaters?

The illegal invasion has concentrated the attention of all Americans on the nature of democracy and its central bulwark against anarchy---our Constitution and the rule of law.

The arrogance of these illegal mental midgets---- lettuce pickers and hamburger flippers. These imbeciles actually believe wavng the Mexican flag in our faces helps their case.

Some lowlife drug lord actually told these morons that Americans are a bunch of suckers who cannot see past the smoke and mirrors, and that we would sit still for their abhorent immigration amnesty bill.

The drug cadres, the pushers and smugglers, are hiding behind the backsides of vote-hungry US elected officials bandying about the bill that treats these lawbreakers better than law-abiding US citizens.

No one---left or right---is impressed by this conspiracy of spineless marionettes dancing limply on the strings of corruption, manipulated by the unseen alien horde puppetmasters lurking behind the scenes, ready to pounce on US assets.

Thanks for the realtime report.

Amazingly, America is united on this, like never before.

I think the politicans know this, but are conniving on how to get themselves out of this amnesty pickle, without looking like complete idiots.

Suckers need to figure out there is no middle ground on this.

LOL.......good way of putting it.

Either the Pubbies are the worst-informed party, or they are bent on self-destruction.....probably both.

They're going to be in more than a pickle after release of the upcomming movie on 9-11 "flight #97"
and people realize the terrorists were illegal aliens
(over stay student 'visa' = illegal alien)

If you will Inform yourself as to what those amendments to the Senate bill contain, and you will see that they try to reconcile the Senate bill with the get-tough law enforcement core that is in the House bill.

reid blocked them because it would turn the anti-American PRO-AMNESTY bill of kennedy/mclame into a bill that Republicans would have voted for. By blocking the amendments, Republicans would NOT vote for the kennedy/mclame bill, and hand the dims an issue for November... one which would allow dims to bash Republicans with the Hispanic community.

Are you really so stubborn that you cannot see the truth? Do you feel compelled to bash Bush regardless of the facts you are debating?

GO to Foxnews, and download the transcript of Brit Hume's Allstar segment from last night! That is my reference, and that is my link. Take some initiative, and lose the ignorance!
