The ice floe theory (Jesus apparently walked on a conveniently handy ice floe and not water) is a move away from the “Jesus walked on a sandbar” theory that seems to have sunk without trace. Here are some questions that could be floated out to the ice floe theorist. Did the ice floe start at the shoreline? Since the gospel says the lake was very rough at the time how did Jesus walk on an ice floe in rough water? How do you “steer” an ice floe? Did it conveniently float out to where the boat was? Wouldn’t the fishermen (Peter and John) stay on shore at night if an ice floe was “about’, or keep clear of it if they saw it while out fishing? If there was an ice floe to walk on why did Peter the disciple think he was sinking in water when Jesus called him out of the boat? Why would the disciples then worship Jesus? For walking on an ice floe, or for showing excellent balance? Then the revelation came to me. Jesus was simply a truly divine surfer!

Wow! How lucky was Jesus that this ice was in the right spot at the right time for him to pull off another one of his "miracles" that helped him with the diabolical ruse that he was the Son of God ... a ruse that led to his torture and death ...

I'm not even going to bother with the sarcasm tag because God knows sarcasm, even when he reads it on FreeRepublic.

The reasonng process is this:

A. Miracles can't happen (nature is all there is).......

B. But we love these cute stories.....

C. Therefore...let's make up something, anything, even if it's less believable than the miracle itself.

Peter got out of the boat and walked too. That would mean that he lied and knew it - no one can tell me that this experienced fisherman would be unable to tell he was stepping out on ice. Then, in later years, he allowed himself to be crucified upside down for a man he knew not to be Christ. This is just one meager example of how implausable this explaination is, and there are more.

Plenty of people have decided against Jesus Christ; that is their God given right. But this type of silly transparent reasoning in order to provide an avenue of doubt for the dull and ignorant is pathetic.

A frozen patch floating on the surface of the small lake would have been difficult to distinguish from the unfrozen water surrounding it.

Which would make it a pretty foolish thing to try and walk on it for any distance.
