We don't need any more than 50 if we hold the Vice Presidency. They are just giving lame excuses. Check the Constitution if you doubt what I say. There's nothing in there that requires 60 votes to pass a bill, and Senate rules do not trump the Constitution.

The Senate GOP is proving that it was a waste of time to put them in power.

They should have done the nuke option 5 years ago, on the Democrats' second filibuster, or at the very least, being very very generous, when it became apparent that the Democrats were using the filibuster as an all-purpose veto rather than a rare bird for... how shall I phrase it? "Exceptional circumstances".

The use of the filibuster by the Democrats IS an exceptional circumstance.

So true. All it takes is for 51 Senators to stand before the nation and declare, "I give my consent." These Republican Senators are a bunch of wimps. If I had wanted democrats to run the Senate, I would have voted for democrats. When will the GOP learn how to act like a majority?

Me too. When the Senate was deadlocked in the 90's it seemed like things on that were serious got through. I think there were a few items almost got to Vice President for final vote.
