I don't know anything about Mr. Flory, but we should be lighting up the phones lines over 41 Senators preventing a vote on a monination..
NAYs ---41 Akaka (D-HI) Baucus (D-MT) Bayh (D-IN) Bingaman (D-NM) Byrd (D-WV) Cantwell (D-WA) Carper (D-DE) Clinton (D-NY) Conrad (D-ND) Dayton (D-MN) Dodd (D-CT) Dorgan (D-ND) Durbin (D-IL) Feingold (D-WI) Feinstein (D-CA) Harkin (D-IA) Inouye (D-HI) Jeffords (I-VT) Johnson (D-SD) Kennedy (D-MA) Kerry (D-MA) Kohl (D-WI) Landrieu (D-LA) Lautenberg (D-NJ) Leahy (D-VT) Levin (D-MI) Lieberman (D-CT) Lincoln (D-AR) Menendez (D-NJ) Mikulski (D-MD) Nelson (D-FL) Nelson (D-NE) Obama (D-IL) Pryor (D-AR) Reed (D-RI) Reid (D-NV) Salazar (D-CO) Sarbanes (D-MD) Schumer (D-NY) Stabenow (D-MI) Wyden (D-OR)
They're on vaction for spring break - save your dime!
I hope FR can stop all this nonsense about "K Harris can't win" and realize that Florida is becoming a conservative state that should not have Nelson representing it.
DISTRICT OFFICES - EVEN BETTER !!
The Senate GOP is proving that it was a waste of time to put them in power.
I wonder if the Pubbies that threatened the "NUKE OPTION" on Judicial nominees will apply that principle to other Nominees
"I hope FR can stop all this nonsense about "K Harris can't win" and realize that Florida is becoming a conservative state that should not have Nelson representing it."
Amen--Spaceman Bill has to go! And he will, too.
They should have done the nuke option 5 years ago, on the Democrats' second filibuster, or at the very least, being very very generous, when it became apparent that the Democrats were using the filibuster as an all-purpose veto rather than a rare bird for... how shall I phrase it? "Exceptional circumstances".
The use of the filibuster by the Democrats IS an exceptional circumstance.
Let me get this straight. The Rats are filibustering a nomination for assistant defense secretary? I don't get it. They think this helps them...how?
Correct! I get much result from calling my local reps, and 2 of the 3 are dems.
don't get it. They think this helps them...how?
They must think the guy has a backbone and is anti liberal !
Or for Presidential nominees we need the Nuke option.
Your tagline is errant. We need 100 conservative senators, but we'll settle for 60!!!!!!1
Didn't the dems just Today bitch that "Not allowing a Vote" is just not the way business is conducted in the Senate.
I believe it was Kennedy bloviating (must have forgot his "beano")
TT
So true. All it takes is for 51 Senators to stand before the nation and declare, "I give my consent." These Republican Senators are a bunch of wimps. If I had wanted democrats to run the Senate, I would have voted for democrats. When will the GOP learn how to act like a majority?
They didn't have the guts to actually do it for judicial nominees.... don't see that changing here...
BTTT
Me too. When the Senate was deadlocked in the 90's it seemed like things on that were serious got through. I think there were a few items almost got to Vice President for final vote.
