I'm very sorry to hear this. That should be totally unacceptable in a border state. AZ FReepers, lurkers (and anyone else who likes living in the Estados Unidos de America) should make sure that he has swallowed a poison pill by taking that stand.
Yes it is the employers. I have asked often "who has the greater moral and ethical obligation to obey US law; Americans or foreign nationals?" I also hold that the key to returning illegal aliens to their homelands is to dry up the jobs and the key to that is to go after the employers.
Having said that; I can understand why many employers turn to illegals. If you are a small businessman you will not be able to submit competitive contracts when a certain percentage of your competitors have cut costs with illegals. I applaud those that hold out and I know a few. They take up the slack by working harder and putting out a better service/product. And they take their losses without complaint, or at least without bailing to another occupation.
If it became clear that laws against hiring illegals was going to be enforced many would sigh in relief as they complied. I'm not trying to excuse their law breaking but human nature is what it is and when there is not a level playing field people will seek to get on one. Many people are in their occupations because they like them and/or are good at them not simply to make money. But no one stays in a business if it consistently loses money.
What part of his "arguement" did you think had merit? The part about govt. "giving" casinos to illegals? That this land was,for a very short time, once "theirs"?

Now that I think about it we need to organize and confront these fascists and racists. We need some radio stations and tv stations to start sending out the call for Americans to unite.
I guess this is what Bush wants - he has taken sides and apparantly we are the vigilantes for wanting the laws to be enforced. You wont hear a word from the GOP in Tucson or elsewhere re. this all of em are bunch of whimps - except of course Randy Graff.
Now is the time to put the pressure on. Call, write, fax, sign petitions ... whatever you can do. We have a small window of opportunity to make ourselves heard on the issues of border security and employment of illegal foreign nationals. Let them know that immigration reform and guest worker programs are quite secondary to that.
This is unreal. She talks about Sensenbrenner's bill and calls it the Sensistupido bill. She also talks about Frist and says he the's one that wants to punish Latinos. She also encouraged the students to skip school to protest Monday. This is in our public schools. This principal should be fired.

What cheesed me off is the implication that Democrats love Latinos well maybe they do, I'm sure they love their nannies, housekeepers, gardeners and the others they exploit on a daily basis.
We'll really feel their love when their housekeeper for 10 years, now forced to pay back payroll taxes ask their boss to pony up 10 years of the employer's share.
Well, basically, I felt that HIS claim to being given government largesse and casinos to make money off of, was as good (or outrageous) as mine, or anyone elses.
