My son was born in 1990........and they asked...and I said, among other things....."Heck" no. He's intact...and has had no ill effects.

Over 200 posts and no picture. We called them anteaters or aardvarks and anyone who had one was sure proud of it. To each their own, as long as proper care it taken for the cleanliness and medical reasons already posted. IMO of course.

I guess medical opinions are varied, then. I lived (as a housemate) with an 40-yr. old American doctor who was the third boy (and the 8th child) in his family. He has a younger brother, too. He told me he wasn't circumsized when I asked him when the procedure became routine practice in America. I asked how that came to be. He responded, "Because my mother loved me very much." Apparently, his oldest brother's circumcision traumatized her so much, she never had it done again. He, as an adult and a doctor, strongly denounces the practice.

I don't know if it should be banned, but we didn't circumcise our son. We didn't see a need to do it.

I didn't circumsize my son, either.

For the life of me, I can't think of a single reason to do it to him. And why would I make a medical modification to his body without a reason to do so?

Circumcised at birth. I'm pleased that my parents made that decision. The vasectomy was a whole different story in my twenties.

Unless the microbe under the foreskin is a vector for cancer in many places in the body.... depending on other factors..
