"Huh? Ever heard of IRCA, or an I-9?"

All they have to do is photocopy something. They don't actually verify immigration status. Many of the people who hire illegal aliens are not even subject to the I-9 requirement.

No problem.

I am a Republican (of course a Conservative one), but I recognize that FreeRepublic is not necesarily a Republican website, its a Conservative website. However many Republicans often confuse Conservatives and Republicans as the same thing, so when Conservatives attack weak Republicans (as you should), many of our friends here take that attack personal and will respond with ridiculous, almost Democrat-like comments.

I lived in Brasil My ex is Brasilian.

I had a Brasilian passport and two daughter that also have both passports. One lives with me another with their mom (legal) in NY

Brasil's social net is mighty sparse.

It would appear Brasil has a broader spread of wealth

Well, I would assume that this was pre-Lula.

:-)

One thing I don't like about him-aside from his conviction that owning a gun is somehow an indicator of criminal tendencies-is his attempt to introduce affirmative action/racial preference programs as a matter of public policy.

I know that in some countries where this has never been an institutional policy "inverse discrimination" looks attractive superficially, but the truth is that it exacerbates-rather than lessens-pre-existing racial tensions.

A-hem. While you were out cavorting, you missed everything. The American flag upside down, the racist chants for us to leave our country, people scaling fences, Johnny and Teddy making out in the Senate... not to mention 12 - 25 million new neighbors any day now.
