Easy
1. The continued progress of political correctness in America.
2. The myths surrounding the "Hispanic response" to Prop 187.
3. Reid is now Senate Majority Leader and his constituency is no longer Nevada but K-Street and Moveon.org

Hell, Even if we could get someone in the House or Senate to read Dingy Harry's 93 speech on the floor, then say something like....
If the Demonrats would show some bipartisanship and comprise like Dingy Harry was willing to do in 93...bla bla bla...lol
That would be just too delicious to watch on C-span.

It appears what I was credited with was the idea to REINTRODUCE the Reid bill. And I had forgotten, but retraced my steps and found that I actually suggested the idea on the original drudge flashback thread here:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1609609/posts?page=3#3
Then I reiterated the idea on this thread, Levin saw it, etc and so on. So Reid was repudiating himself? He was for immigration reform before he was against it. Anyway, very amusing and satisfying to play any role at all.

I completely agree that the border needs to be under tight control ASAP. My view has been that two things are a priority: control the border; send the illegals home. I have contended for three years now that drying up the jobs will get the second one done.
Dems gaining control of Congress hadn't entered my thinking. A little Pubbie spine would go a long way towards making sure they don't. IMO.

We likely agree on much of the immigration issue, and how to solve the problems on the border.
We may differ somewhat on the best way to accomplish those goals.
I prefer to work with political engineering within the party to advance my desired goals.
I've never had much luck just expressing my views from the outside looking in. Believe me, I tried that for years.

No, That isn't what I meant. I'm a constituent too, but I got involved in party politics at the grassroots level.
Now they know who I am when I voice a complaint about an issue, and they will call or write me back.
I don't have the cash to make big donations, but I can bring lots of votes to the polls.
They see my name in the paper all year in letters to the editor smacking down the liberals, and in editorials on the issues.
What they never see is me writing in the paper when I'm pissed at somebody in my party, they get those comments personally, and they seem to listen.
I'm a nobody just like most everyone else, but I'm an involved nobody that they recognize the name.

ha! I still have my notes on that. i had an outline written up, and still do think it would make a fun historical investigative piece. if i dug into my hard drive, i could still find it. that was fun. man, you remember that? that had to be at least 3 years ago. Ron dog was a big player on that one, as i recall. the internet is just amazing. and thanks for sending me that link re: the immigration bill. definitely was fun.

Not gettin any younger, that's for sure! Those old congressional records are a big hassle to go through..image files. That WAS fun, though. Started out a little patchy, then took on a life of its own.
