"Until our elected officials come to grips with the real issue that's troubling ordinary Americans - not a growing population of foreigners among us, but rather a growing population of foreigners among us who aren't behaving like immigrants - public frustration will grow no matter what bill Congress passes in the coming weeks. It could lead to the kind of political explosion that none of us really wants."

If our government does not stem this flow, it's going to bankrupt not only medicare and social security, but the entire government.

I suspect that in the end, this is going to lead to violence all across America.

I don't mind who joins up here, but I expect them to do it the right way and pay their fare share.

We are expected by the government to carry the burden of Vicente Fox's little social exercise.

It would have been cheaper to set up development within Mexico so the people could stay home and earn fair livings and develop the country. This mass migration is not the way to run things efficiently and only rids Mexico of the unwanted, untrained, the felons and seeks to make a mockery of good American citizens.

The government doesn't care because they aren't paying the bill. They can retire tomorrow and continue receiving their great salaries, great medical care, good education for their children - while we have to foot the bill for their mistakes.

What we should be pushing for is that all members of the legislature be forced to pay into and expect to receive social security as the "regulars" do, and go on some medical plan which they pay for themselves. Let them try to get help in an ER under a two hour wait while people with flu symptoms stand in line because they have no medical doctor of their own and no plan. In my town the county hospital has on average 100 births a month - 95 of them are Latino nationals. Guess who is paying the bill?

Sorry - it's a bitter lesson - having to live like the people you make laws for. Think it's about time the Senators and Representatives have a taste of real life in the trenches.

We let the MSM and Congress reframe the debate. Piece is right, it's never been about immigration. It's about wanton disregard for our Nation's Sovereignty and the unwillingness of those Constitutionally charged to defend it, to do their job.

What is especially galling is the President's notion that the hospitals closing, the mahem on the streets, the murders, rapes and exotic health issues are all a "small price to pay" for the services of criminals. The fact that Americans bristle at that notion is sinking in. But it's too little too late.

I'm thinking that this summer when the school kiddies have lots of time they'll have another demonstration in say, LA that will turn into a riot. There's going to be blood shed over this thing because the instigators are calling for the death of the Anglo/Gringos. The MSM is not reporting the rhetoric that's coming fron the Spanish language media and it is indeed bloodthirsty. These people are an army, not just immigrants.

With few exceptions i have been eating tv dinners 7 days a week for as many months as i can remember.Trying to settle the affairs of my mother's estate as well as my own monthly problems, this was one way of doing without to make sure enough money would be available to pay the bills.I was born in this country and have everything invested here but when i hear on the news that illegals are getting, free health care, education, housing, etc.it really burns me to see my country selling me out.As a white male and a citizen there is no relief for me and i am supposed to take great pride in being responsible!?These da*n people are NOT my responsibility and they are entitled to NOTHING.I stand to lose everything no matter what i sacrifice and i have had with this country!

Maybe the government is waiting for the violence to start so they can bring the hammer down. Martial law would be a nice way to stifle dissent. No one is as incompetent as the government has been acting on the border issue.

...But they have little interest in learning English themselves, and instead demand that we make it possible for them to function here in Spanish. They put their children in our schools, but don't always demand as much from them as previous groups demanded of their kids. They don't always pay their taxes - or insure their cars. In short, they aren't playing by the rules that our families played by when they immigrated to this country. And to ordinary Americans this behavior is deeply - very deeply - offensive.

Spot on!

This ongoing, and festering crisis is what a national civil disobedience (aka; 'civil war') is built on.

Maybe they should try to demonstrate in Texas. Texans are heavily armed. That would certainly turn the debate in a new direction.

Only half of this problem is Hispanic. Here, the hardest group to deal with is Haitian, and the problem has a whole different complexion.

With all the battles fought on foreign shores to preserve democracy and uplift nations, I hope the final story on the history of the United States of America as we know it - this free land - will not come down to an overthrow in simple numbers by the leaders of the countries to the south.

An influx which will cripple our economy and the way of life we and our forebearers have built from nothing.

Destroy the U.S. by using its' great and generous ideals to humble them into penury utilizing overwhelming numbers of indigents.

How long are we going to bend over for people like Fox who make no bones they are sending us people whether we like it or not. He is actually determining our futures and our laws.

Hello ? Is anyone listening ?

It is certain that the immigration boil will be lanced, either by the Congress, or by we the people.

Congress may well sit on their collectives duffs on important issues like Social Security, but unlike SS, the cancer that is being spread by the illegal immigration problems demand much more than some painkillers.

Perhaps when thousands are rioting, burning and killing in the streets, Congress will get the picture.

"we are told - incessantly - that we need these "guest workers" because they take jobs that Americans don't want and won't take themselves."

Ahhh yes, the jobs Americans don't want - like hanging dry wall, installing a new roof, hanging gutters, Painting homes, new construction plumbing, installing siding, hanging windows, landscaping, topping trees, poring foundations, and on and on and on. This aint about lettuce anymore folks.
