Reading all of those headlines would definitely make many automatically find them guilty. I wasn't there, and I don't know what happened, but I think that she broke her nails fighting to get her money back. I'm leaning toward "I'll show you white boys!" IMO
The probable cause affidavit for the McFadyen search warrant says a pile of $20 bills was recovered from within the residence totalling $160 when the police searched. It also says they recovered Mangum's make up bag, cell phone and identification at the same time.

Did the house residents have all of this together in one place to give to the dancer in case she returned for it? Did they treat the $160 as "her" money and were they holding it for her? Or was it just money that the police found in the house, perhaps even in the players' wallets? Did the players feel that Mangum "earned" that $160 that evening, but not $400? Did Mangum bring the $160 with her when she showed up to the party, possibly from turning a trick earlier in the evening?
The fact that the ID, the makeup bag, the cellphone and the $160 was left at the house tells me that it was all probably together in the makeup bag and there was a struggle over the makeup bag in which her nails got broken.
So she left the house in a huff without her things supremely pissed off at the Duke kids. Some Duke kid yells "Thank your Grandpa for my nice cotton shirt" as she walks to the car. This tells more the Duke kids were still pissed at her even though they appear to have gotten their money back. It tells me that she must have pulled one heck of a stunt in there. I also find it very unlikely that college kids would be yelling stuff like that if they knew a gang rape had just happened in the house or had participated in it. More likely the smart ones would have been heading for the hills the moment anything like that started (and would have been cooperating with LE by now).
The McFadyen e-mail from a few hours later tells me that as well. This was an angry kid still outraged at being scammed by a stripper (and drunk and tired), not a kid who had just witnessed a gang rape by close friends.

DURHAM -- A defense attorney says pictures taken at the now-infamous Duke University lacrosse party last month contradict an exotic dancer's allegations of being raped, beaten and strangled by three players.
The photos show the woman attempting to get back inside the house at 610 N. Buchanan Blvd. where the attack allegedly occurred on the night of March 13-14, said attorney Bill Thomas, who represents one of the lacrosse players.
"She had a big smile on her face," Thomas said.
Then the woman fell down at the back door of the house and lay on the ground "for quite some time" as if she were intoxicated or asleep, Thomas added.
In addition, the time-stamped photos indicate the woman was severely bruised on her legs and face, and had cuts on her legs, knees and feet when she arrived at the home -- and before the rape allegedly occurred -- Thomas said.
He said the photos clearly show "there is no way she was assaulted at all, much less in the manner she described."
Thomas declined to allow The Herald-Sun to view the pictures.
Two other lawyers associated with the case, who declined to be named, corroborated Thomas' description of the photos. The defense attorneys said they might soon make the pictures public.

However, right now, as I type there are talking heads saying that it's only a matter of time before those players break. They are saying how when the first DNA test comes back, these
"LILY WHITE" Rich kids are going to run to their Lawyers to cut deals.
Man, do they want it to be true. That's why Nancy Grace, Dan Abrams, & Kimberly Guilfoyle started VERY EARLY beating the drums that EVEN WITHOUT DNA EVIDENCE these boys should be charged. The DA picked up on that in the Media and reponded on the AIR, that he doesn't need DNA in this case, and that he will not be releasing the DNA results. He said the vaginal and anal injuries the woman are strong enough to proceed. He also raised the possibility that the boys used condoms. Okay, she claims she was Orally raped also, so why didn't her statement SAY they were wearing condoms?
It's inexcusable that at this late date, these Media people are still saying and writing that these Duke guys are guilty!

I had VeRY strong convictions from the beginning on this story. I wrote Drudge (not knowing what else to do) like 4 days into this thing (it's over 3 weeks now) and at that time I laid it why it was a HOAX, and I used the word HOAX.
Nothing came of it, but, hey, when the NY Times won't take your calls what is an amatuer Sleuth supposed to do?
The Question now becomes will the Media created Mother Teresa be charged? That's what needs to happen if justice is to be served.

Have you guys seen that Parody (something like Police Story) where Leslie Neilsen is a detective and he takes over as the Umpire to be involved in the action. I know most of you have.
Anyway, Leslie Neilsen at first as UMP calls a strike and when the crowd goes wild he responds with more and more emphatic and animated strike calls to elicit the crowds praise. He's feeding off them.
That is how I saw Disrict Attorney Nifong from the beginning. He went out and did some interviews to put pressure on these kids and then he became intoxicated with the media coverage and praise. He Predicted bigger and better things with each interview. He eventually said that he doesn't need the DNA at all that is doesn't matter in this case. That is interesting, since it's the largest undertaking ever by the NC SBI. It's also the most expensive case as far as scientific testing that NC has EVER
prosecuted.

The Raleigh NewsObserver, even though they're aware of the latest developments, are still going after the team with ZEAL.
In today's paper (Sunday), there's this Headline across the top of the Paper:
TEAM HAS SWAGGERED FOR YEARS.
In the article, they reference "Preppy arrogance". Of course, they have responded to my e-mails so I know they know the latest (911 call made by stripper, and photos). When I asked them why they haven't posted the Strippers criminal record, a got a response saying that the web-site that reported her record was incorrect. Nothing further was said. Except every e-mail notes their policy of not posting names or pictures of Rape victims.
This newspaper has made this woman out to be Mother Teresa. They did an, over-the-top, exteremly sympathic "interview" with the woman on 03/25. That's where the woman said she's only been doing this for a short time and she's never danced for a group before.
I e-mailed them about that too. But, as you see, they won't slow their onslaught towards the players. Open-containers and underage driking off-campus is really serious stuff according to these feminist liberals at the N&O.
They deny her Criminal record is accurate.

Now, the DA in the Tawana Mangun case says the DNA doesn't matter. That he can convict without it. Hmmmmm. Sounds like BS to me. Has she had a lie detector test yet? Why doesn't he give her a lie detector test?
According to this Newsweek article, "Kim" has gone "underground". I hope that doesn't mean she has fled and won't testify.
If the accuser is lying, I hope it can be proven so the team members can be publicly vindicated. Nifong dropping the charges for lack of evidence, while implying the attack was genuine, would be unfair.
