Time to break out the Turbanex..
"Are you an isolationist or in denial?"
no and no. I don't believe in spending the national treasure in nation building. If they don't get their government together in a few months, as Bush has said, let Iraq fall apart and let the Kurds have their land, let the shia in the south have theirs, and then let the sunni fend for themselves. this country was an aberration from the beginning.
as for iran, they way you "start over" is to removing their leadership (whatever way works) and destroy the terrorists. I have no desire to go their and occupy it. Do you? The islamic fundamentalists will destroy themselves economically. and if they export their will in an way, financially, militarily, or terroristically, we cut it off, and they start over. Got it?
You can't have it both ways.
You can't "leave them alone" (as you stated) and "remove the leadership whatever way works and destroy the terrorists".
No one has ever talked about "occupying" Iran, nor would it be necessary.
"No one has ever talked about "occupying" Iran, nor would it be necessary."
That's right. They are an autonomous people. They just need new mullahs to move in and lower the rhetoric. Occupantion would not be necessary, just respect for their created religion, as long as they don't export the hate that goes with it. However, Iraq has become the ultimate international "paint-ballers" arena with live bullets. The place is a fractured society that will have to play itself out. Old scores are being settled. This is not a catholic/protestant conflict in belfast with London playing the referee for future democracy. Look what happened to Yugoslavia. They never got used to living side by side once the communist yoke was lifted. Hate is hate, and death becomes the answer to the haters.
