This is what the commies/limo-libs do -- they throw around terms like "racist" or "bigot" to shut people up. It's one of their favorite techniques.

Katrina was raised with so much wealth (her grandfather was Jules Stein, MCA founder in Hollywood, a Republican and great friend of Reagan) but her parents were apparently of a different stripe.

Katrina grew up with a lot of liberal guilt. She must not have forgiven her grandfather for befriending Reagan way back when.

Katrina's grandfather's country estate (what a poor little rich girl she is):

Katrina represents the classic white liberal guilt of the kind we have in the Northeast. In fact I think it was invented here and it will be the death of us.

Since they are Mexicans, from Mexico, they most assuredly are the backbone of THAT country...And look what a fine specimen of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness they turned that place into...

It's a pity George Bush never had to work a day in his life...He may have a different view of his globalism...

The "racist" taunt confusion arises from our nation's unfortunate muddle-headedness on issues of race and culture. The current dogma of the "multi-cultural" ideology has convinced many Americans that "culture" and "race" are the same things. Just think of the endless paeans to multiculturalism in advertising, political speech, academia, etc: they are always illustrated by a photo of people of different races.

This is dangerous and wrong.

For example, while a black American and a white American might be different colors, they are equally American, i.e., they share the same culture.

Modern "multi-culturalists" are the true racists when they elevate skin color to a place as primary as culture.

One of the characteristics of borders is that it divides the human race into those within the borders and those outside—just like the door to your apartment divides the human race into those within your apartment, and those on the outside. Borders, like doors and locks, are exclusionary by nature.

In the modern age, of course, this seems like a great sin, since a primary modern virtue is "inclusion." We moderns have a difficult time saying "us" and "them."

It goes against our modern sensibilities to say to someone born in Switzerland or Bangladesh, "I'm sorry. You are excluded." To us, it seems "mean."

But it is not mean. It is realistic and necessary and prudent.

Keep in mind one thing: our country is already taking in far more immigrants every year than any other country in the world. This extremely high rate of immigration is causing our nation to undergo massive changes changes the majority of the people of this country don't even want.

Yet for all the people we are taking in, we are still taking in only a little more than one percent of the births-over-deaths population growth of the world. If we are going to be "compassionate" to all the foreigners of the world and dismiss the best interests of our own people, what about that other 99 percent?

Again, it is not mean to control our borders. It is necessary and realistic.
What is mean is leaving our children a country twice as populated as we found it for no good reason other than that we dont want to be called racist, however untrue the accusation.

Katrina, you're just like the storm: a disaster. Get a life. My friends and I are working hard to defeat you Leftist/Marxists/Communists and you're going have a much harder time than you ever imagined. You see, we KNOW what we believe in and we believe in it so fiercely that we will literally FIGHT for the return of these ideals.

It is OUR sons and daughters (and many of us) who willingly VOLUNTEERED to serve our country over the many years because we believe in it beyond mere words. It is greater than ourselves. We are part of that continuing thread, that blood red thread that is woven into the fabric of this wonderful nation. We are the backbone, not you and your Leftist/Marxist/Communist/Elitist friends, no dear, you are in for a real shock. We may go down, but THIS TIME we will go down real hard and we'll do great damage to our enemy.

Undocumented immigrants are the backbone of this economy...

What a filthy liar.

I saw a little of The Legend of Zorro, and the political undertones bothered me. They definitely were playing on the idea of white supremacists trying to keep down the Mexicans (in this case, Californians before Statehood).

The truth is that many of us who oppose illegal immigration like most of the Latin American immigrants. We just want them to enter our country legally and in slightly smaller numbers than the current all-out invasion levels.

Katrina's a Park Avenue leftist. Her grandfather founded MCA, an entertainment conglomerate. Rupert Murdoch bought the family estate in Los Angeles. The family money hasn't run out yet.

Consequently, Katrina views the world more from the point of view of a daughter of privilege concerned about cheap help, than of an ordinary person worried about job markets, tax rates, or social conflicts.

That she's so prominent lately is a sign of the changes in the composition of the left: "workers" are hard to find there, especially in the upper cadres.

I hope Katrina won't be allowed to simply walk away from her smear of Tancredo without consequences, but she probably will, as her sort are rarely called to account for their actions.

"undocumented workers who played by the rules and paid their taxes,” once they were established in America—legally or not.

That kind of cognitive dissonance ought to be very painful.

Okay, but notice that they did make the Californios very pro-US, and their enemies had to be very anti-US and pro-French, as well as anti-Latino.

I don't know if the Californios were so much in favor of statehood in the actual historical record, but in a way LOZ was a very pro-American film, in spite of the ethnic angle.

"Lawnmowing is hardly the backbone of this country."

You know this kind of stuff just gets me. I am really thinking of getting a camera when it warms up so I can take pictures of all the white people in the business of lawn care. I also see black people doing this work. I hardly ever see any illegals doing it.

The discussion went from ridiculous to downright ignorant when George Will pointed out that it was companies like Microsoft that are the backbone of the American economy. Followed by Fareed Zakaria stating that the women at MSFT wouldn't be working there without having their children cared for by illegal immigrants.

This is utterly ignorant on so many leveles. Women are a pretty small segment of the workforce at MSFT and most women who can afford in-home childcare aren't using illegals to do it. Why? Because there aren't very many illegals in King Country. I think it's the weather that keeps them at bay.
