"He will probably be sent to the hospital tomorrow," Mohammed Eshak Aloko, Afghanistan's deputy attorney general, said Sunday evening. "He is not considered a prisoner anymore. He is a sick person."
Ruh roh!

Kind of reminds one of how the Soviet Union dealt with dissenters of any type...and how liberals view Christians in our own country.

It might be the safest place for him in the country. If sent free, there could be a fatwa upon him.

If he is released, he needs to be released to coalition forces and spirited out of the country.

Then a Texas-style "fatwa," delivered courtesy of US special ops, should be visited upon the Islamofascists who call a fatwa upon him.
BTW, does anybody know where CAIR stands on this issue?
What does Zogby's poll have to say? / sarc

Here's how I think this one will play out. Rahman will be mysteriously murdered, Afghan authorities will make a token investigation, no one will be charged in Rahman's murder, and the Western World will quickly forget the whole episode.

Yep, that's justice
Now - on to the rest of the thousands of secret converts

We should take him into protective custody. This is a much bigger issue than just Rahman. They may yet kill him. Moving him to a mental hospital just insulates the judge and prosecutor from blame.
For conservatives this is no surprise, but this is a great object lesson. Democracy is not liberty; without the moral underpinnings of liberty, democracy is just a license for the majority to oppress the minority, which we are seeing play out right in front of us.
Bringing democracy to Afghanistan is an enormous undertaking, but the point is not voting booths, it is liberty. To allow the judicial murder of this man, or the extra-judicial murder if he is now to be killed in the hospital instead, will undercut everything we are trying to do.
"Democracy" that allows the judicial murder of this man means that the Taliban have returned to power, under our protection.

Yeah, I'd like to see some evidence of that, too. Bet you don't get a reply...

Well, I'll be.
CAIR actually has a reasonable (for them) position on this.

If I said what I thought about Muslims placing a Christian in a mental hospital, I would be banned.

Karzai's a politiician. I think in the end he'll find a way to quietly get this guy to a western nation (I'm sure we've told him through back channels that this HAS to happen).
However, what happens when the next Christian comes forward? And the one after that? If they keep harassing these folks it will get very, very ugly.

After a few weeks in a turd-world hellhole "mental hospital", he'll probably wish he'd been beheaded, or "pulled to pieces".

We watched as they demonstrated against the Danish cartoons and now we watch as they threaten to kill a man for converting to another religion. This is a power play for world dominance. And it reveals that any religion which threatens its members with death to keep them from leaving is false.
