Multiculturalist pablum, even bordering on globalism. This is how these ideas are burning us. They sound so sweet, but America would never be what it is today without the original core of immigration from Britain.
The original European "immigration" was Spanish. Then came the Irish St. Brendan and the Vikings. That was all long before the British. Also, my German ancestors came here and settled at least half a century before the American Revolution.
I can't believe anyone still thinks like you do.
It seems I am battling bigotry from both ends of the spectrum.
You are not paying attention and only listening to the voice in your head.
I said nothing about "diversity." And I do believe in English as our common language.
I am pro anybody who truly wants to become an American, to respect our flag and our country. Although I believe we could use some quotas for legal immigration as well.
I am totally opposed to illegal entrants who only use us for monetary gain. You haven't even read my numerous posts on the subject.
The funny thing is that you are calling me a multiculturalist and the pro-illegals are calling me a racist. *shaking my head*
There are no more "tomato pickers". That is all mechanized. Today we have "tomato sorters" and that is being trimmed way back because with the mechanized sizers they aren't needed.
"Flies won't hang around a closed garbage can and illegal aliens won't hang around a country that stops throwing illegal jobs and legal welfare benefits at them."
Tell me the name of one politician who will be willing to stand up and say, "No more free education in any public school for illegal alien children."
Because they are paying taxes on the cash under the table hile benefitting off the public welfare systems paid for by legal u.s. taxpayers.
"The root cause is that it is way too easy for illegal Mexicans to get illegal jobs and legal welfare in the U.S."
100% agreed.
I keep sending requests for money back,no money until we have control of our borders.
You have misquoted me and distorted what I have said.
No meeting of the minds here. Not even a battle of wits.
Period. End of story.
You are a liar. Everything you say about me is untrue. You are a liar and a slanderer.
Are you one of those white supremacists, giving patriotic Americans a bad name?
Yep.
Why don't we start sending requests for money to them?
Read your posts again.
The ones here currently are law breakers. They've already demonstrated that they have no compunction about breaking the law if it will result in financial gain.
"The cycle repeats endlessly and, right now, we have total anarchy."
Correct. It is total anarchy. Any 'guest-worker' program that rewards those here now with any kind of legal status will only lead to more of the same.
Actually, I have most of my old culture left which was much like the culture of World War II America. During the 1960's, when America's youth was into drugs, free sex and burning American flags while my uncle was a Green Beret in Vietnam, my father would complain that we were more American than the native born Americans.
I have passed that culture on to my kids which, in our corner of the Left Coast, means that they don't have tattoos, their bodies aren't pierced, they are still virgins, they don't do drugs, they don't go out on the street looking like a hooker or with their butt crack showing and they leave their peers in the dust academically.
When do you think the tipping point will come when it will no longer be "Anglo-Saxon?"
1903.
I hate to be the one to break your delusions of Anglo-Saxon ethnic purity but you are 100 years behind the times. America ceased being predominantly "Anglo-Saxon" quite a while ago.
Your "tipping point" occurred 100 years ago.
The Nativist writers of the last half of the 1800's railed against the flood of Papist Irishmen and Jews and Eastern Europeans and Italians and Poles and Germans and Scandinavians that threatened to overwhelm the old and pure "Anglo-Saxon" stock.
As I said before, unless you came out of the hollows of Appalachia, I seriously doubt that your family tree would qualify as "Anglo-Saxon" to the 19th Century Nativist who would die of shame if his family tree were polluted by the bloodline of Americans named Joe DiMaggio or Sean Hannity or Kowalski or, God forbid, some Eastern European Jew named Jonas Salk.
A 19th Century American Nativist would consider 21st Century American culture as definitely "foreign" and would consider the average American's bloodline as definitely NOT "Anglo-Saxon".
He would look at the majority of our troops fighting in Iraq and scream in disgust, "See! I told you so!. We have become a nation of mongrels!!!"
However, it is the conceit of some 21st Century Americans with Irish, Polish and German roots to wear the old 19th Century badge of "Anglo-Saxon" when, in fact, the actual pure 19th Century "Anglo-Saxons" put up signs directed at their ancestors that said "No Foreigners Need Apply".
If you think the nativists of the 1800s were worried about the same levels of immigration, compare the numbers in this post. From 2000 to 2004 we had more illegal immigration than even came through Ellis Island during the entire 1890s.
In 1890, the U.S. population was a little over 62 million. 3.7 million immigrants in the 1890's represented 6% of the entire U.S. population. 3.8 million in 2006 represents a little over 1% of the U.S. population.
In order to have the same impact on the current U.S. population as the Ellis Island immigration did, your current immigration number would have to be almost 18 million.
If you care about this country, you'll want to start limiting additional Hispanic immigration yourself. From your reply to mine, I see you as an advocate for the tide rising against the Anglo-Saxon core of our nation's base.
America is a set of ideals and values and not a breeding club for so-called "Anglo-Saxons" that long ago ceased to be "Anglo-Saxons".
You're part of the problem, and the fact that you're Hispanic only serves as a reminder that we can't trust an overwhelming majority of Hispanics to preserve our founding values.
Since coming here in 1960, between my uncle, my brother my sister and myself, we have 48 years of combined military service to America that has included service in the Navy, the Green Berets and the 10th Mountain Division and three combat tours and two Purple Hearts. We do not have a single drop of Anglo-Saxon blood in our veins.
Between my wife, her grandfather, her brother and her two uncles, they have 90 years of combined military service to America that has included three wars, seven combat tours (one of them being "for the duration" of World War II starting right after Pearl Harbor) and three Purple Hearts. They do not have a single drop of Anglo-Saxon blood in their veins.
The Third Reich, not America, was the country founded on the value of ethnic purity. So, John Filson, you can take your Anglo-Saxon ethnic purity "value" and cram it where the sun doesn't shine.
I judge a person by what he does and thinks and not what his ethnic purity is.
I have posted several times outlining specific measures to deal with and drastically reduce illegal immigration. I object to illegal immigrants because they are illegal and I also object to many legal immigrants and some native born Americans because they do not have a love for America.
You, however, are stuck on the 19th Century issue of an "Anglo-Saxon" ethnic purity that no longer exists and are worried about the "Anglo-Saxon" population tipping points that actually occured a century ago.
That issue was decided by the US Supreme court prior to 1986 IRCA which made employment of illegal aliens unlawful, the issue should go to the Supreme Court again as circumstances have drastically changed. The costs of providing such education are breaking the taxpayers. other circumstances referenced by the Suprem Court have also chnged, making the issue worthy of reconsideration . Where are the Attorney Generals of states being impacted by illegals? What about the US Attorney General? (in Jorge's hip pocket?) Where are are chief law enforcement officers? What are they doing?
