Ice floats. Place an ice cube in a glass of water. After the ice melts, does the water level rise?

A great science project for high schools all over the planet...

The earth has been melting and freezing for over a billion years --- chicken-little is a much more recent creation than earth, and the earth will go on heating up and cooling again, long after chicken-little is served for a fried chicken dinner.

Mother Nature is gonna do what she is gonna do in spite of all those out there who think they know more than she does. Remember the line: "It's not nice to fool Mother Nature?" :)

Gee was it humans that caused the rise 130,000 years ago?

Have you counted the ice on land? You know, the stuff sitting on Greenland and other islands off Canada?

I swear to the Almighty, I have to point this out on every such thread.

Eat more fish.

Since water is displaced by solid matter, those fish are rising the water level around the world.

We MUST eat more fish to save the planet.

Boy, they are really piling it on now.

Their release schedule used to be one scare story per month, then it became weekly.

Now it's been one scare story per day for about the last 8 days.

The debunking never gets out in the MSM, except for John Stossel.

The MSM is becoming the "Sanford & Son" of junk science.

Have you counted the ice on land?

Yes! How do you think it got there?

4 degrees warmer in 100 years? I can see the possibility alright. What I can't yet see is the solution. Why is a solution needed? What can mere humans do against nature? Destroy our economies? Stop driving? Shut off all power? to what end? unhuh.

After the ice melts, does the water level rise?

Sorry. bad analogy.

Try this instead:

Place a funnel in an empty glass. Now place three ice cubes in the funnel. After the ice melts, is there water in the glass?

Much of the ice that would melt, as the earth goes through normal periods of warmth and cold, is found on Terra firma (i.e, Greenland, Antartica). It is this ice that could possibly cause a slight increase in ocean levels.

Dear moonbats:

No one disputes global warming or even sea level rise.
The world has been doing that for millions of years.
About human beans either causing it or preventing it?

Ever heard the expression, "to spit in the ocean"?

Best regards.

...hello ocean front!

Earth's temperature by 2100 will probably be at least 4 degrees warmer than now.

A beach house where you can work on your tan? Kewl...
