They believe in the treatment track. If they went for the punishment track, disagreeing with them would be thoughtcrime.

I don't know about kids but when they grow up, the whiny ones seem, to me, to be mostly liberals.

Liberalism/progressivism (or whatever they are calling it these days) itself should be classified as a mental disorder.
For example, both totalitarian ideologies of the 20th century, fascism and communism were a form of government worship. And liberals also continue to worship the concept of the all embracing nanny government every chance they get. And then they have the gall to call us fascists, even in the face of overwhelming evidence that socialism and fascism are about 70-80% similar and fascism and conservatism have no more than 20-30% similarities.

Hey, Freepers, the PhD who did this study got paid for 20+ years of steady work and will probably get funding from schools, foundations, etc for another twenty. This failure of a study has this guy laughing all the way to the bank.

Studies done in California produce results that are not scientifically valid. But they make great fertilizers.

This is different. The post you referenced doesn't include Jonah Goldberg's commentary on the study.

Studies done in California BERKLEY produce results that are not scientifically valid. Of all the places and he thinks this is even remotely representative although it is only correct for 7% of cases? Give me a break.

Okay, sorry, I had read the other, pulled it up, saw the lead phrase "Remember the cocky, arrogant kid in nursery school" vs. "Remember the whiny, insecure kid in nursery school," and took it for a match.

I thought it was a match at first, too. But when I read in the first paragraph that bullies grow up to be conservatives, I thought, "Wait a minute, he's got it backwards. Who wrote this?" When I saw that it was Jonah Goldberg, I thought, "Oh, boy, this is gonna be good." And it was. He's one of my favorite columnists.

Since he graduated college over sixty years ago, I don't think he's got another twenty years in him. He's received OUR money over the years for his research, as noted here:

How about a study to determine the voter registration of inmates at the local prison.

This is all you need to know. If the study had reached any other conclusion, it would have been buried and someone would want to know what happened to the grant. Consequently, all of thieir 'studies' reach the right conclusion.

UC Berkeley professor Jack Block's theory, according to the Star, is that insecure kids look for "reassurance provided by tradition and authority, and find it in conservative politics. The more confident kids are eager to explore alternatives to the way things are, and find liberal politics more congenial."
The liberal welfare state and it's "Entitlement Mentality" does NOT appeal to those with more confidence. It is the insecure and envious who flock to such a view.
