Now that I read these amendments...I am wishing this was the bill that Bush vetoed..
In fact, I think we were all hoping he would, but knew he wouldn't because of the funding for the troops.
Yikes...is there a thread with that...or did you hear it on the news?
Maybe two threads. I'll go ping you.
Reid talked about it an interview with Wolfe in the link I posted above about WWII

As txsleuth pointed out, Reid is referring to S.Amdt 2518, the Warner/Frist alternative to S.Amdt.2519, the Reid/Levin amendment. I think of these as the "Iraq cut 'n' run" amendments because they were were being argued and debated at about the same time Murtha was on his tear in the House.
The dueling amendments were cut from the same cloth, that being a Democrat sponsored amendment that was introduced with great fanfare during a Reid/Levin/Durbin presser. Warner and Frist cut off the part of the amendment that seemed to require President Bush to report a timetable for withdrawal - which would have been a timetable of the President's choosing.
The language in S.AMND.2519 that Warner objects to is ...There was one other difference between the amendments ...
(c) Reports to Congress on United States Policy and Military Operations in Iraq.--Not later than 30 [Warner wants 90 days here] days after the date of the enactment of this Act, and every three months thereafter until all United States combat brigades have redeployed from Iraq, the President shall submit to Congress an unclassified report on United States policy and military operations in Iraq. Each report shall include the following ...http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1522162/posts?page=57#57[deletia]
(7) A campaign plan with estimated dates for the phased redeployment of the United States Armed Forces from Iraq as each condition is met, with the understanding that unexpected contingencies may arise. [Warner would delete this final paragraph in its entirety]
(4) United States military forces should not stay in Iraq indefinitely and the people of Iraq should be so advised; [Levin]v.
(4) United States military forces should not stay in Iraq any longer than required and the people of Iraq should be so advised; [Warner]
Reid is misconstruing the remaining language in the amendment, which is exactly the same in both amendments ...
(b) Sense of Senate.--It is the sense of the Senate that, in order to succeed in Iraq-- ...(3) calendar year 2006 should be a period of significant transition to full Iraqi sovereignty, with Iraqi security forces taking the lead for the security of a free and sovereign Iraq, thereby creating the conditions for the phased redeployment of United States forces from Iraq ...
See additional discussion in FR threads DRUDGE: Senate Republicans Push for Plan on Ending War, Senate Republicans Block Iraq Timetable and The Senate GOP Caves. The Senate Thread for November '05 has a few comments too. At any rate, the votes against the Warner/Frist version were a mixed bag. A few democrats were against it ;-)

They are the ONLY senators to also vote against the "al-Queda Bill of Rights" bill. They are the ONLY Senators that I trust.
Well, you trust three more Senators than I do.
But I think you mistake the significance of the "al-Queda Bill of Rights" bill, if that refers to Graham's amendment regarding habeas.
As for McCain's amendment regarding interrogation and torture, well, I haven't fully digested that one yet. I think it's mostly doubletalk.
