If we've going to have higher taxes, I prefer the decision to be made locally on a case by case basis than in a far-off distant state capital. There's more accountability and the people have a good idea of what to spend the extra money on better than the politicians do. Why would any one on this forum NOT support local control? There's a good case to be made Sacramento ought to be the place of last resort to address our problems considering how inefficient and wasteful it is in even tackling them.

The more you post, the more your socialist attitudes surface. Reading your posts, I've come to the conclusion that you are the socialist on this board but you love to paste that handle on anyone who doesn't agree with you. I don't fear what you call me and I don't think Amerigomag does either. Your kool-aid has a bitter after taste and no one here will drink it.

To go back and expand on my previous post for a minute, our Democrat Los Angeles County Sheriff wants another try at increasing the sales tax. He was rebuffed by the voters. These people can't help themselves so I just love that we can tell them you haven't made the case for getting more money to spend. That's kept us from having a fiasco here like that Wapato gold-plated jail in Portland, Oregon.

Two comments come quickly to mind:
Los Angeles County might be better prepared to meet its local needs if Sacramento, and particularly the Wilsonegger administration, hadn't siphoned off increasingly larger percentages of local property taxes. The issue came to a head when the Wilsonegger gang reinstated the General Fund, VLF subsidy and then refused to give Los Angeles County their fair share of the diverted property taxes. When sued, the gang didnt even contest the suit, they were so far off base. They simply paid the money back, without interest.
Los Angeles County wouldn't be in the financial problems that they are in if they stopped welcoming illegal aliens and their anchor babies who, by in large, pay neither income or property taxes yet contribute to over 25% of the cost of local, law enforcement and its administration. With a Mexican anchor baby as the mayor of its largest city, that attitude and LA County's official posture is not likely to change.
