I know it, kstewskis. I am happy to be out of CA for several reasons, but I will always miss it, family, friends and FRiends.
CA used to be great. The very best. So sad.
The threat to our economy and security is not just from the south. There are many east European and Chinese illegal immigrants in America. I am all for making them legal, and having them take up their share of the tax burden. I just believe that those immigrants that played by the rules should get preferred treatment. And those that broke the rules should be penalized, according to existing law. If the GAO is calling this group of clowns mismanaged and corrupt, there is a SEVERE problem. DHS must be held accountable.
Did anybody see Law And Order tonight? Big hit piece on The Minutemen and on Guns.
I'm not even drinking!
It was a repeat. Once was not enough I guess.
I never go to sleep angry. :)
I don't understand why we simply don't do what was donewhen the immigrants came here in the early 1900's. A sponsor, testing, a job, etc etc.

Good, you are far better off devoting your time to him than bantering over politics on this board. He will greatly appreciate it!
La Canada Flintridge is still GOP. I just checked. It must be those Jet Propulsion Lab nerds. So is La Mirada, and Lakewood, of all places (sort of), and Westlake Village. In the city of Los Angeles, Bush in 2004 carried about 20 precincts, as a guess, gazing at the odd blue color in a sea of red on the Leips site (blue is still GOP there). That is far less than he carried in NYC. And the City of Los Angeles takes in some very high income precincts - in fact, a lot of them.
Here's an anecdote from my day. I was walking in my neighborhood, which includes a middle school. It was about time for school to let out and there was this guy with an ice cream cart.
As I passed him, I smiled and noticed his baseball cap said "Made in the U.S.A" with a nice flag embroidered on it. So I said, "I like your cap." He just grinned. Anyway, I tried to pursue the conversation, but he said "no inglees." I didn't believe him but I finally resorted to Spanish. Basically, I wanted to know if he'd like to become a citizen. And I said this is the greatest country in the world, why not become a citizen?
He agreed, Yes, for the "dinero." I said Oh but there's so much more, such as freedom. He claimed there is freedom in Mexico, which is a lie. Anyway, when I say the illegals are here just to use us, it's not speculation, it's because of "interviews" like this that I do. They're here purely for money. MORE money than they could earn in Mexico.
They could survive back in Mexico, but come here and they can support a village.
That's right. Its for cash to send home and out of America.
Oh that's good about LC though (and yes, I bet it's those LPL nerds too! LOL). I recall a district rep (R) losing in '92 or '96, can't recall his name...to a (D). I thought it was all downhill from there.

Isn't it amazing that sanity can actually take some gasps in a sea of looniness like Los Angeles? Wow. Good stats.
Good to learn about LaMirada, a town I always liked. I am really rather surprised that the West end of the SF Valley aren't GOP, but I have been away from the LA area for almost 3 decades.
Thanks for sharing that little anecdote.
It is becoming painfully obvious that those in charge are more interested in satiating their own greed than preserving our society and way of life. Even their apologists seem to be having frequent emotional episodes as the political reality of the day becomes impossible to rationalize.
Yes, a fight to the death may be the resulting reality.
Ping!
Great find and post, MI. Thanks.
Hey, how long have you had the tagline.
I was using that for about 3 weeks ... until a couple of days ago... hadn't seen yours..
BTTT!
I suspect that maybe the GOP in the City of Los Angeles is now coralled in Porter Ranch (a high income enclave in Northride), and Chatsworth. When I was a kid, West LA north of Pico Blvd elected GOP types, along with the San Fernando Valley south of the Ventura Blvd. That was in the 1960's. That all ended in the 1970's.
