Another excellent point.

Your point is true, but incomplete. There is no single Muslim "mind," no single way of thinking and judging. While I also laugh at the idea of "little brown brothers," I know that there are some universal traits of human nature. Things like weariness and even laziness. You have a portion of the population which is militant. You have a portion who views Islam as a social construct. They bow toward Mecca because everyone else is. There's also a portion that thinks the whole deal is a pain in the arse.

Cynic I may be, I recognize that if I just have to take on half the Islamis world, that's an easier task than taking them all on. I think W believes his rhetoric. While I may have reservations, I think it's useful to give someone an alternative.

You may be correct. Either W or Karl Rove blew it big time, politically. The president's supporters who spoke against the deal did so because they accepted what he said about being at war. I'm one of them. I'll just say that I can accept foreign companies running port facilities. I have a problem with foreign governments (through government owned companies) running US port facilities. I especially have a problem with hostile foreign governments running US port facilities. My biggest problem of all is hostile foreign, Islamic governments running US port facilities where there's no appreciable difference between the religion and the government.

The public has become pretty cynical about Islam. Just this week we're hearing about a guy in Afghanistan who may be executed for daring to convert to Christianity. The government there could at least show a little couth and wait until we leave, don't you think?

The cynic in me says Islamic=enemy. I'm not alone.

The cynic in me also says that I don't trust our own governemnt to keep us safe, nor should I. W is out of touch if he didn't see this.
