If Bennish is teaching that Bush is a dictator, then he is ignorant of the facts & unfit to teach.
"When you're in a hole..." etc.
Two words: road kill. The poor guy wouldn't stand a chance.
Had I been the parent of a child in that guy's class, I would've challenged him to a debate in his classroom. As part of my presentation, I'd show slides from my personal visits to Dachau and Flossenburg, and challenge him to produce evidence to support his claims.
Still, I would like to see Ann rip this guy a new one.
We so don't reach, maaaan.
I agree, and I want this scumbag canned. This has nothing to do with academic freedom.

STILL AN IGNORAMOUS WHO THOUGHT THIS WOULD BENEFIT HIM.]
He's a WUSS.
>A high school social studies teacher
He isn't a social studies teacher, he's a geography teacher. It's a big part of the issue.
Speaking as a teacher: this man is a frickin' idiot. Does he want to demonstrate to the students that Bush and Hitler are alike? Hitler's speeches are available online in .wav format for anyone to hear. Students can hear the State of the Union and Hitler's speeches and compare the two. How about the use of language? Compare and contrast - the words are easily available. Look at the speaker. Examine the cadence, the timing, the volume, the choice of language, the use of metaphor, the stories that the speaker tells. How about the setting of the speeches? How about the use of media - and the way the media regards the speaker? A good teacher positing a relationship between two historical figures would do this, and more. Hitler was galvanized by the Treaty at Versailles and the conflict between nationalists and communists in the 1920s. What is similar in Bush's life? Hitler was boldly antisemetic in his language and policy proposals. What is similar in Bush's language and policy proposals?
A good teacher presents information in a manner that students can learn, reflect, and apply the lessons to their lives. A crappy teacher tells the student what to think based on his or her own biases and feelings.
Another argument for school choice presents itself.
I thought he was referring to Hitler as the dictator.
Er, um, Jay? So...what's the capital of Belgium?
He's probably bummed he cut his hair.
