In addition to being the name of a city in PA, Scranton is also the name of a former Republican (RINO) Senator.

From the looks of the sub I'd bet money on it.

Carter is the president who single handedly destroyed the commercial nuclear industry by stopping the reprocessing of nuclear fuel; this happened several years before TMI, which unlike what many people think, did not destroy the nuclear industry.

Without the reprocessing of nuclear fuel, the economics of the business where thrown in question. With breeder reactors, the US would have had enough power for ALL of its needs even with the exponential growth in demand (starting about now) for 500 years. Then the Democrats had a better idea which has lead us to enslavement to the nations of the mid east.

Rumors are that his son was kicked out of the nuclear navy when they found drugs on him at the same time Carter started the kick off for his run which occurred in Idaho. Carter always viewed this as an attempt to tarnish his campaign, and being from the navy, was not smart enough to realize that there was a big difference between the commercial nuclear business and the military. Through his ignorance, he blamed the entire nuclear industry for his son's failure.
