It's a deterrent. If they had all their posessions seized (yes, the Consitution only protects citizens, not illegals)and were booted back to Mejico with only the clothes on their backs, that would deter them from coming back and others from coming.

Yes you're right. We don't even know if the original 12 million was accurate at the time it was put forward. Since then, every year .5 to 1 million more come in, but magically, 12 million never goes up.

Who knows, there could be 25 or 30 million illegals here now.
