He was one of 9 kids from one of the toughest projects in Chicago, the Robert Taylor Homes (now demolished). To rise to his calibre was a monumental achievement, we lost a good guy today. He went back Home. RIP

My God.

God Bless Kirby and his family.

Thanks for the memories Kirb.

Hear, hear. Vaya con Dios, Kirby Puckett. Your smile lit up the world here on Earth, it's time for it to shine in Heaven.

You could ask any person that had personal contact with Kirby and they would vouch for him being a great person. I personally seen him, on more than one occasion, stay on the field for as long as it took to sign every autograph request after games.

I actually had a chance to meet him, on one of those off-season baseball tours.

He totally exuded personality, and you could tell it was genuine. None of the prima donna stuff at all.

The guy was the face of the Twins, and for that matter IMO, did a lot to enhance the image of Major League baseball in general.

So do you make it a habit to show up at funeral homes and disrespect the recently departed?

Sports are fleeting moments, they really don't help nor hender my life...

Baseball is part of America's national fabric. It is an event that unites us. As a newbie, you might want to reflect a bit more, before you post.

You know, you COULD show some personal control and NOT post crap like that right?

Or is that beyond you?

Nevermind how you don't get "broken up over Multimillionaires", that doesn't give you the right to act like a complete and utter idiot when someone DOES die.

It's just poor taste and a lack of class on your part. It's probably normal for your ilk on DU, but thankfully FR is above that 99% of the time.
