"Anybody know if a cat scratch could transfer this to humans?" That depends if the cat has recently licked it's paw etc.
Basically it is fluids or mechanical transfer mechanisms that can cause infection NOT biological mechanisms

I have a feeling that the price of Chicken and turkey will sky rocket as well as people choosing other ways to consume there protein.

"I am not sure I think it could be spreading with fleas?" No wrong vector, it is occupational proximity that is causing cross species infection at the moment. By occupation proximity we mean porcine and avian farmers in Asia often have these animals close together and also work closely with them. civilian populations do not have the same exposure profile.

A friend of mine got a cat bite that turned into an infection in her blood. Would this apply?

I will still eat chicken and turkey. This is panic over nothing. And I won't give up my cats either.

Not if they are skeered they won't.....
I would think as long as you don't eat your bird 'raw' you'd
be good to go...
Maybe if they 'irradiated' the meat first....you'd have no worries...cept for being skeered of radiation meat...

"A friend of mine got a cat bite that turned into an infection in her blood. Would this apply?" No avian flu is cause by the influenza A viral strain, infections form cat scratches are caused by parasitic or bacterial agents

Do you eat organic chicken and turkey? that might be a better choice given Bird flu expanding.
I would not give up my kitty but he is always indoors and is only allowed to peer out windows...

Textured vegetable protein (synthetic "meat") would be a better choice if H5N1 gets into U.S. poultry stocks (pretty unlikely).
