This is good.
This may help with other groups which now can't accept federal dollars and then discriminate agains groups with policies against homosexuality.
Thus (in theory) the united way can't discriminate against groups with policies against homosexuality because the united way recieves federal dollars. (boy scouts, catholic adoption agencies)
This is VERY VERY good.
The money issue will show how much these colleges/universities stand behind their beliefs.
Any bets on how many institutions will now refuse federal assistance in order to keep military recruiters off campus?
That is awesome. I am going to bookmark it if you don't mind and maybe add it to my homepage.
Hooray!
For those in Rio Linda, that's "everyone voted the same way".
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!
I guess I remember the driving rules.
States had to increase the drinking age to 21, enforce mandatory seat belt rules and lower the speed limit to 55 or else they would lose their federal funding under jimmy carter.
Most states did not want to comply, but did so anyway under the boot of the federal govt.
I actually think that a new rule should be added to FR. Every Supreme Court thread must include this picture.
Navy ROTC is present at CMU.
Very few (Hillsdale and maybe a couple of others) colleges have refused all sources of federal money so they can remain free. Maybe this is what will get a bunch of colleges off the federal teat.
Notice I didn't say ALL lawyers. My point was that if the Law Schools consider the military "repugnant,"...well, never mind. As I said, I certainly didn't mean ALL lawyers!
The long-term positive effects of GWB's appointments to the Supremes will be the crowning achievements of his legacy. The Court's vote on granting military recruiters access to college campuses as a requisite for federal funds is an echo of the wishes of the vast majority of Americans. Hurray for out side!
I agree. I cant get over that, you know the guy who did it is gettng flooded with requests for print copies. I'm still LOL.
Good news.
Alito. He's a slacker. Also he wasn't around for the arguments before the court so he didn't vote. If it was going to be close the court might have brought the lawyers back in and reheard the arguments.
It's about freakin time.
Yale has the biggest problem with this decision. For the state schools, if the law schools insist, they will just separate the law school from the other part of campus and separate its bureaucracy so that it's a separate entity. A useless gesture, but such things are important to bubbleheads.
Yale can't do that.
A Unanimous vote isn't very surprising.
I think this court will be characterized by those types of votes for the near future....
Here's to many more from this iteration of the U.S. Supreme Court.
