LOL. Yeah, I've become something of a lightning-rod, I guess. I wont self-ban as long as I can control my temper.

Getting back to the Title of this opus, Republicans are going to win big in November, so drop the negativity!
I went to a meeting of our county Republican organization last night. Maryland is such a solidly red state, that national Republican efforts have passed us by as being a waste of time and money in the past.
This year, the RNC is coming in to help. Michael Steele for Senator is a big deal, and reelecting Bob Ehrlich is another really big deal.
So it will be exciting to be a part of the campaigns this year, as opposed to acknowledging that Maryland was a no-hope state in the past. The country IS shifting to the right.

Just because someone uses a word that liberals like to use doesn't prove anything. Oh..I apologize, that post wasn't to you. Sorry if you thought it was. If you happened to follow my conversation...you might come to the same conclusion. Maybe not...I know not.
Did I say it proved something...? I said it smells. Period. It's a tell...nothing more, nothing less.
BTW...I've been a fool enough times..to know what it feels and smells like...But not in this case.

I don't know you, so you may very well know more about politics than 90% of the people around here.
But I will tell you one thing from observation: Anyone who would announce something like that in a room full of masked strangers is so incredibly tone-deaf and ham-fisted, that while you may know a lot, I question how good you are at "doing politics."
Sir, with all due respect, you set yourself up to be hassled with a comment like that. So hassle you we did. What I said wasn't meant as an insult. Just an online gasp at the sheer audacity of your remark.
Further: PD rants are not EVER intended to be Buckleyesque Sowellful political analysis, nor do I think he intend them to be. (If you want to debate him in his area of expertise, you will have to deal with him on the Naval Aviator threads) His rants are fun, intelligent, full throttle optimistic pep talks and observational political analysis. PD speaks from the gut, and based on his own experience. They are a great chance to have some fun and take a fresh look at things. I will continue to appreciate them, even if you do not.
I hope to see you around someday on a more in depth political analysis thread were I will have the opportunity to discover deep and meaningful insights.
(Sorry to take your name in vain PD and inscribe intent to you, but I it like I see it. Hope it was ok.)

No reason there can't be deep and meaningful insights on any FReep thread. By condemning people for not adhering to your standards of humility and modesty, you appear not to welcome liveliness, which is far more important in a forum -- especially an electronic one -- than self-effacement.

I think what Polly is trying to tell you, is that a bit of humility goes a long way. You don't show up and write on a forum like this, one filled with political junkies, that you know more than 90% of us about this subject. You probably have no idea of who posts here. Some of these folks are people you see on your TV and hear on your radio regarding politics, people who are paid to think about these subjects. So, when you make a comment like the one you made, it does not show you in your best light.
My rants are meant to be fun and thought provoking, not people provoking. But I have a mean-streak that makes me mess with those of you who like to monitor the thoughts of others like sentry roosters on patrol. All the bluster makes you look bad.
I would not describe your demeanor as 'lively', I would call it angry. But angry over what? There is no law saying we must agree. Am I humble? Nope. I'm not perfect, never claimed to be. But as a formal naval aviator, I'm as close as most.
PD.

Angry at people who try to police FReep, looking for pseudo-offenses.

Good luck.

You either need:
1] Professional help
or
2] Stay away from the computer until you get out of 4th grade.
