I am a conservative Republican.
I will not dig in and hold the line on an issue on which I don't agree.

The big question is...what company will manage port operations if this is squashed. The U.S. government won't stop the sale of the foreign company, they can only say that the company can't manage U.S. ports anymore.
Now, if the only U.S. company that can handle the job is Halliburton the rat party squeal will be heard around the world, they will have backed themselves into a corner. (cornered rats, now that's a picture I like)

if doing the "right" thing hands over power to the Democrats in a big way and for the foreseeable future You cannot possibly be THIS dumb; toss away your OWN security, not mine or my family's.
Mohamed and friends running around the docs of US ports opening containers to let in their terrorist friends and empty out chemical and biological weapons.
Just stupid.

Well ... if doing the "right" thing hands over power to the Democrats in a big way and for the foreseeable future ... do the political thing.
That is dangerous thinking.

" Or is the man simply "stuck on stupid", as is usually the case when he attempts to grapple with an issue."
It really is quite scarry what we see happening more and more. How do all our potential and outright enemies view us. A house so divided will fall. These people are mostly acting like they are in their first elective bid, instead of responsible representatives. Is it remotely possible they all, both the House and Senate all want to become like the whale?

Absolutely. This whole deal was known about last October when the Wall Street Journal (according to Rush) published the news.
I suspect that the kvetching about this contract was timed to coincide with the demolition of the 8th most holy (and therefore expendable) Shi'ite mosque, and quite possibly with some other AlQaida action.
The first "newsies" off the dime with the the story, as well as the first politicians out the gate, are clearly revealed to be "persons of interest" to some serious investigators.
It really is long overdue for "W" to start rounding these people up for the duration.

They don't know how to be winners, they've been in the minority for so long that they don't know how to handle power, that's why they are tossing it away. It's amazing. Two weeks ago the left was imploding like the Hindenberg (still are) and the GOP stood to smack them hard in Nov. If handled properly this DPW/ports "issue" would have only cemented a big GOP smackdown. Now I'm watching the GOP steer their own ship right at the iceberg.
Maybe I should be happy since I'm a conservative and the GOP isn't. But I'm not. Dimwits!

Senior U.S. officials told lawmakers they will try to inform Congress better in the future. Why bother? I swear they don't read or get briefed by their staff on 90% of what's presented to them.
And the RATS will just turn around and lie saying that they've never received anything.
Hillary is laughing herself silly.

If the Democrats take the House, it will be because these jerks hand it to them. I have to agree with you, a lot of the GOP jumped right in without any facts and started beating up the administration in public, bloviating like pompous asses, pandering to the cameras for political gain and handing the rats another stick with which to poke the GOP in the eye.
The sensible thing to do would have been to begin by quietly gathering information, making inquiries and working within the party to solve the problem.
Some of these nitwit republicans have never learned that pissing on your own feet only gives you a warm feeling for about a minute, after that you just have wet and smelly feet.

I'd like to hear Duncan Hunter and the nay-sayers here on FR state just who in the world should take over the port terminal operations if Dubai doesn't. Since there is just the Brit company that's trying to sell and Maerske, I guess by process of elmination it'd be Maerske.
(BTW varmints, Don't bother telling me you'd rather have an American company handle it, that isn't our reality.)

No, that quivering you see is her shaking in her boots. Hubby Billzo has been taking cold hard cash from the UAE to make this deal happen ~ and there she is bad-mouthing the deal.
People who pay usually don't tolerate this very well, and it's best to remember that the fellows who run UAE aren't all that removed from their former status as pirates a century ago.

BTW, I don't think I heard anything about the duplicity of Bubba during Chrissy Matthews tonight...but, Brit Hume mentioned it.

The story was released by the AP on Oct. 30 and the WSJ reported it on Oct. 31st. This "issue" is so transparently a Dim demagoguing tool. It's just like the "new" video of Pres. Bush ala Katrina. It was first released to the press on August 28th before the storm even hit. Amazing how many RINOs are blindly following the Donkeys over the cliff.

They don't have answers for that; they're just busy making the GOP look like the DNC.
