I was born and raised in Berwick. The majority of my family work and live in the Berwick and Bloomsburg area. I live in the Wilkes-Barre area now. I've watched this with some concern. I'm not about to panic though, PPL has a very good track record for saftey at that plant. But, that doesn't mean I don't keep an eye on it. Go Dawgs!Go Spartans!

Do you understand what halon gas is? It's a mostly inert gas that is used to suppress fire by displacing oxygen in the air. It's got nothing directly to do with the reactor itself. It's not used in the reactor, but rather in the control room and anywhere else were electrical or electronic equipment might cause a fire. It's pretty darn safe stuff.
Yes, I know about halon. I posted the thread when the advisory first went out, with no indication of what the problem was. Sometimes the alerts escalate (TMI), and sometimes they turn out to be nothing.
I am glad this one was a big NOTHING.
