What are greater: the differences among us as Republicans or the difference between us and the Democrats?Tough to say in California.

Ladies and gentlemen, look around this hall. A day will come when all that you see will be gone, all the fury and passion of these times will be as quiet as the grave. And on that day, history alone will look back upon our generation to judge our stewardship of this state. And when it does, let it be said that our generation rose to the occasion; that we struggled and sacrificed and ultimately succeeded in restoring to our children that Golden State that California of opportunity and plenty that our parents once gave to us.Bless ya, Tom. (And thanks for posting this, FO).

Yes, I wrote that. The Left is so deeply entrenched here any gains will be won in inches, not miles. We have to remind ourselves that even the little we have could be swept away in November and we're back we started - at zero. Let's not lose sight of what we have accomplished... getting rid of the car tax, reforming workers compensation and stopping tax increases and more regulations. Given the Democrats' state of mind, they would like us to pay more the privilege of driving, they would like businesses to pay more to help their lawyer friends and nickel and dime the middle class to pay for their spending plans and the regulations their bureaucracies will issue. I admit its like holding a finger in the dam here. The only issue we face as Republicans is whether we let the water in the dam swamp us this fall.

The Left is so deeply entrenched here any gains will be won in inches, not miles. You're so right. Every precious vote must count.
When we lived up in the Bay Area, I remember the gridlocked rush hour traffic across the Golden Gate Bridge.
The only thing that kept me sane was to appreciate every inch of progress forward, and hold that pedal to the metal.
Good preparation for CA politics!

You're either with us or against us.
Let us never forget that this is the governor who rescinded the Democrats’ illegal tripling of the car tax on the very first day of his administration.
This is the governor who repealed the law that had already given drivers licenses to illegal aliens.
This is the governor who pushed through the most significant workers compensation reform in our history.
This is the governor who vetoed the bill that would have destroyed the entire concept of traditional marriage.
This is the Governor who last year had the backbone to confront the most powerful special interest group that has ever wrapped its tentacles around our government – and who took unprecedented personal abuse in doing so.

Too bad the "true Conservatives" here didn't get behind Arnold and his Special Election.
They've done a great disservice to our State.
Arnold is no Reagan, but he is certainly no Davis or Cruz, either.

They're not true conservatives at all.
Tom McClintock is, and everyone else who's sick of gridlock and willing to vote against the Democrats.

Funny how they've been screaming about Tom's Conservative credentials for months but are now silent.

Good speech.
Doubt that it will cause many conservatives to change their minds about Arnold. No reason it should.

Rush was talking yesterday about the vast array of different conservatives. But none of those in the spectrum he described would ever advocate voting for or facilitating a Democrat.
Good grief.

Perhaps the ones that do so here ARE Democrats. They debate like Democrats, that's certain.

Funny how they've been screaming about Tom's Conservative credentials for months but are now silent.Uh, what are you talking about? I seem to see quite a few posts on here praising Tom. I supported him 100% in the recall, but I also plan on reelecting Arnold this year even though I am aware he's not conservative. I'm also happy Tom is supporting Arnold, and don't find any problem with them running as a ticket.
If there are people still fighting the recall, they need to let it go, on both sides. I am pleased to see many of the pro Arnold posters during the recall praising Tom here. I think things are going well, except that Arnold has an amature and self destructive group of advisors that cost CA his Propositions, and possibly his reelection.

Some people here are still fighting Arnold and have now turned on Tom.
Pelosi, Boxer, et al, are thrilled.

except that Arnold has an amature and self destructive group of advisors that cost CA his Propositions, and possibly his reelection. That's why they were called the (Wilson) gang that couldn't shoot straight back in the 90's. Today, with financial support from Bush's west coast money men, the New Majority, and with their new Austrian spokesman, they're appropriately called the Wilsonegger gang,
They still can't shoot straight. Either right or left!
To: Amerigomag
I think he has as much problem striving for diversity with all the token left wingers he has on there as much as Wilson's clowns. Basically they're all out of their league right now, how else could they let a few Teachers Union ads turn a 60+% approval rated movie star into an approval rating in the 30s and get smoked on the propositions within a couple years?
They've got no one to blame but themselves.

They've got no one to blame but themselves Yet they continue to insert their operatives onto this forum, blame conservatives for their November rout, attempt to disarm lurkers with their smooth deceptions and attack the adults who know better.
That's why they'll continue to fail. The gang that couldn't shoot straight.
