No, subtract a husband who remained married to his wife for 60 years. He also lived what he preached. What's wrong with that? I can certainly have more respect for him than you.
Thank you! You saved me a little time with that reply.
Disagree with his politics, fine. But Mr. Weaver was a man who conducted his life with dignity and class. The least we can pay a man back when he is gone is by giving back the same.

Despite what some think, I'm not revelling in the man's death. But I refuse to get caught up in all the stary-eyed memorializing of the man that went on in this threat. I think he was a voice for something very dangerous in America and I think that needs to be acknowledged. My sympathies to his family, but forgive me if I refuse to beatify the man.

Hate to tell you, but I will always remember him for "GUNSMOKE" when he played the role of Chester with James Arness.IIRC, his leg was sore {or injured} so he limped and the powers that be liked it, so Chester limped for the whole series.

I see where you are coming from. You were just so blunt in your first post on the subject. lol While many of us were reminiscing about the good ol' days and associating his acting roles with them - you knew more about the real man behind the mask. I still like his shows. Glad my dad (may he RIP) never knew this - he was a big fan.

Dennis Weaver was the "guest star" at our local, small town rodeo many, many years ago. In the 50-plus years of having guest "stars" in town, he was one of a very few who left town more popular than when he arrived--during "Gunsmoke" and in his heyday.
He was truly a nice man; spent many hours visiting people in the hospital. And he did it on his on time-- wasn't in his contract.

The good ones are dying off, and being replaced by pure SCUM, not to mention leftist trash.I think Weaver, whatever his gifts as an entertainer, was a leftist.

Thanks for your graciousness. I apologize for being too blunt or insensitive in my first post that you referred to. I guess I just have a hard time with the Hollywood crowd and sometimes it's hard for me to be tactful when discussing them.

Here you are trashing an American actor named Dennis Weaver, albeit an anti-Bush liberal, yet on other threads your defending the United Arab Emerites. If I could say what I wanted to say about you, I'd be banned forever!

LOL! "Hickness" is judged by not only what you wear, spelling counts too! I think you meant "idol", not idle. If you think I idolized Mr. Weaver....well, I guess reading comprehension counts too.
Hey, I'm almost sure I know what that A stands for!

Same here. I did not miss many of the re-runs, either. I still love watching that kind of television. Until recently, I was getting Columbo re-runs.

Spielberg owes his career to that movie.I heard Dennis Weaver talking about the movie once. He said since he was a bigger celebrity at the time than Spielberg, he was actually given the choice of hiring him as the director or choosing someone else. He laughed, (paraphrase) "That was probably the only time anyone has had that kind of power over Spielberg!"
Great movie. I'll remember Weaver more for that role than anything else.

Grow up. If all you have are personal attacks against me and typos to support your position, then you really don't have much. I have a right to my opinion about Weaver and you have a right to waste your time making incipid, hateful replies to people who disagree with you. If you want to know what the A stands for, then look in the mirror.

LOL, congratulations on posting the single most moronic reply to anything I've ever posted on Free Republic.com. Psssst, the UAE has been more helpful and pro-American in the war on terror than your buddy Dennis Weaver EVER was. Go back under your rock.
