I watched the first fifth season 24 and got hooked.

I just read the McCain visited the set last fall and they had him do a Hitchcock like cameo walk through a scene, no lines.  Apparently it aired in early February.

McCain's '24' Moment: The Clock Is Ticking

9:31: 52 There he is! In the upper left-hand corner of the post-commercial montage, handing Audrey Raines a folder at screen-time 1:32:22 -- and then gone in a second. Pause to mull whether it was worth it. Keep watching.

People have got to start asking him if he approves of Jack Bauer's techniques or if he wants him prosecuted for torture (and murder, for that matter).

Let me explain to everyone what is going on with the Port Deal. The 45 day re-review is pure window dressing face saving PR. It gives the knee jerk hysterics a face saving way to change their position with OUT having to confess what a bunch of screaming, chicken little hysterics they were. It a sign the Democrats have all ready lost the debate.

Richard Crenna was a misunderestimated actor.

Lost this battle, perhaps. But winning the PR war, and gaining support in the War Against the War on Terror.

I heard that...I'm certain if he brought Jack Bauer before his committee, there would be little left of Sen. McCain.

Sensei... you're doing it again. Your thinking is VERY clear and I AGREE it is possible the Dome of the Rock may be blown up. It doesn't belong there anyway.

I believe this was thrown out by DPI as a face saving measure. They want as many people looking into the issue as possible and not just getting their information from the MSM or jerkbots.

When you get down to it, no matter what we say on the container terminal management deal, the DPI takeover of P&O is going to happen. The US contracts are just a drop in the bucket. This additional 45 day period will allow the State Port Authorities who actually own the ports to review who else they could extend the contracts to. If, for example, they don't renew the contracts for management, they'll most likely have to pay DPI/P&O a buy out of the contract, less they face a major lawsuit by DPI. The financial buy-out or lawsuit ruling would still not devalue the DPI/P&O deal..

If anything, the 45 day extension helps DPI/P&O in that, if there is no substantial case made against this review period, then they will have more grounds to continue contracts, or have a better financial compensation for breaking the contracts.

Correct about the 45-day review. Just a bunch of noise. Watch, towards the end, folks like Peter King and Schummer will as for ANOTHER 45 days.

Look for Hannity to begin his flip-flop on the issue today. Then the Fox military analysts will come over, followed by Laura Ingram. Ann Coulter will not admit defeat and will join Savage in growing irrelevancy.

I did not see (or know about) the McCain walk-on, until I saw a screen cap of it on the live 24 thread.

Or maybe he will take him to the railroad tracks and do to him what he had to do to "Chappel"...............

[...Look for Hannity to begin his flip-flop on the issue today...]

Hannity was already on the FRence post last Friday.
I predict he will be firmly planted on the "FOR" side by Tuesday.

Mr Buckley, Sir, you are a towering intellect who has formidable skills. As the Godfather of Modern Conservatism you are without peer. As author, thinker, publisher you rank a genius. Unfortunately, Military strategy is NOT among your gifts. Sir, the Neo-isolationist school of Foreign Affairs died on 9-11. One of the touchstones of 1950s-60s-70s Conservative philosophy was proved incorrect that day. 9-11 showed that the the world does NOT go way just because Americans choose to ignore it. The "Neo-realist" school of Foreign Affairs merely defers, it does not defuses, crises.

HERE is what we are doing in Iraq.

Counter Insurgency is a strange bastard style of war. It is not total war but it is also more then the Leftist" Police matter". The other thing most old Cast Iron Conservatives forget is the political aspect. Iraq was doable. We had the political consensus to do it. So since we needed a kill zone we could suck the terrorists into and we needed to get the American people to support the cost, there was no other choice BUT Iraq.

Want to really blow the Leftists minds? Tell them this. Even if Al Gore won in 2000 and 9-11 happened the USA would STILL be doing the same thing now in Iraq. Iraq was doable militarily and politically. There was no other place for the US to go. Iraq is basically the same deal as the invasions of Italy was in 1943

Here in a nutshell, is the MILTIARY reason for Iraq. The War on Terrorism is different sort of war. In the war on Terrorism, we have a hidden foe, spread out across a geographically diverse area, with covert sources of supply. Since we cannot go everywhere they hide out, in fact often cannot even locate them until the engage us, we need to draw them out of hiding into a kill zone. Iraq is that kill zone. That is the true brilliance of the Iraq strategy. We draw the terrorists out of their world wide hiding places onto a battlefield they have to fight on for political reasons (The "Holy" soil of the Arabian peninsula) where they have to pit their weakest ability (Conventional Military combat power) against our greatest strength (ability to call down unbelievable amounts of firepower) where they will primarily have to fight other forces (the Iraqi Security forces) in a battlefield that is hostile to guerrilla warfare. (Iraqi-mostly open terrain as opposed to guerrilla friendly areas like the mountains of Afghanistan or the jungles of SE Asia).

There are other reasons to do Iraq but that is the MILITARY reason we are in Iraq. We have taken, an maintain the initiative from the Terrorists. They are playing OUR game on ground of OUR choosing.

Problem is Counter Insurgency is SLOW and painful. Often a case of 3 steps forward, two steps back. I often worry that the American people have neither the maturity, nor the intellect" to understand. It's so much easier to spew made for TV slogans like "No Blood for Oil" or "We support the Troops, bring them home" then to actually THINK. Problem is these people have NO desire to co-exist with us. They see all this PC posturing by the Hysteric Left as a sign that we are weak. Since they want us dead, weakness encourages them. They think their "god" will bless them for killing Westerners.

So we can covert to Islam, die or kill them. Iraq is about killing enough of them to make the rest realize we are serious. See in the Arab world the USA is considered a big wimp. We have run away so many times. Lebanon, the Kurds, the Iraqis in 1991, the Iranians, Somalia, Clinton all thru the 1990s etc etc etc. The Jihadists think we will run again. In fact they are counting on it. That way they can run around screaming "We beat the American just like the Russians, come join us in Jihad" and recruit the next round of "holy warriors". Iraq is also a show place where we show the Muslim world that there are a lines they cannot cross. On 9-11 they crossed that line and we can, and will, destroy them for it.

Hannity seems to follow the crowd. Last week, the voices of the jerkbots were the loudest, and thus, Hannity was right there with them.. Since then, I have a feeling he's done a little research, like many in the public, and while he may not turn, he will be far more reasonable this week and hopefully he'll stop repeating the myths of this issue...

Calyspso Louis and I agree. The education system is broken. Let's cut and run. Let the states run the education system, like they used do.

Nope. Just like all the other Democrat Party "brilliant" PR ploys, the longer this goes the more people who MIGHT have been swayed by the Dems PR game and realizing just what a bunch of Chicken Littles the Democrat Leadership is. After ignoring and deriding MAJOR issues of National Security the Dems finally grab attention by going into full scale mental meltdown about an issue people are suddenly realizing is NOTHING. Does NOT make the Democrats look trustworthy with Political Power at all. People do NOT like being jerked around by the Pols. It is something we should devoutly wish the Democrats do not figure out. There ARE things they could do that would do enormous PR damage to the Republicans but instead they continually look for the next PR gimmick instead of real solutions.

Watch for them to release their Contract on America, it is a real complete "Progressive" disaster. They still do NOT get it. Ideas, not slogans, win elections.
