Here in Illinois Comrade Blagovich wants there to be free pre-school for all "the children"(as he is running for re-election). Great! More tax dollars so that kids can sit and color all day.

Ah yes, but NEVER let it be said that a Liberal won't embark upon a fool's errand, if he/she can get some ELSE to pay his 'travel expenses'.
Was it Prof. Walter Williams who, referring to why government is such a lousy 'delivery system', said something to the effect that, those spending someone ELSE'S money to buy something for someone ELSE are careful neither with the quality of what they buy, NOR with how much is spent...?

RE: "...or 32,000 4-year-olds statewide, at a cost of $2.3 billion a year. ...That's $71,875 per kid." In addition to that complete lunacy, we must remember two things about preschool.
1) Preschool is never better than spending those years in the bosom of a healthy, intact family, learning about life while playing at Mommy's side. Preschool is ONLY better than sitting in an overheating car outside Mommy's crackhouse, or other such neglect. There is nothing wrong with preschool and some families love it, but it's not BETTER than being with Mom, Dad, or Grandma all day.
2) Paying for preschool for everyone means that the least responsible parents will be rewarded for such.
This is an awful idea. Welfare by another name.
