The truth about why our Prez is threatening a veto over this is important. He is committing political suicide and there has to be a good reason why.

His first veto is not in defense of the unborn, is not to lower out of control spending, is not in defense of our border....his first possible veto is to aid a deal to a foreign gov't, under the guise of internationalism and so called free trade. (So called free trade because the partner is not a private company but an entity owned by a foreign gov't.)

You expressed your that your main concern is that US ports are no longer being run by "the US". By now you must know that every American port is run by the US. A municipal, state or federal port authority runs each and every port. Those entities lease terminals and warehouse space to private companies.

As far as your statement is concerned in respect to DBW acquiring P&O, those operations are already run by a non US entity. P&O is not a US company.

How is this different from the Panama Canal deal? It's different because the terminals are already foreign and will remain foreign. The ports are American and will remain American.

Actually, they will only make top management decisions. As in any business, their main objective is profit. Had they wished to do us harm, they could have done so at any time prior to the announcement of this purchase.

My father-in-law's wife is a total kook listening to single side band short radio's kooksville programs, bragged she went out and bought a $800.00 Y2K el-generator!
I told her that my new Y2K "generator" was a Coleman's camping light with 2 small fluorescence lights from Home Depot @ $27.95 which we used over and over under 10 days outage from Wilma!! Port deal boils down to no knowledge of port operations at all!! And mainly pressure from the longshoremen's campaign donations to the dims and certain pubs critters, pure and simple!! The "bar coding" strike in San Diego comes to mind!!! Hmmmm???
